Rickie Fowler's Greenside Chipping Techniques | TaylorMade Golf
Спорт
Team TaylorMade's Rickie Fowler is here to talk all things chipping. He's left himself some difficult shots over a bunker but thanks to his TaylorMade Golf TP5pix, he can work it however he needs to to get the ball close to the hole. He talks about using various different clubs around the green, his swing thoughts, how to get perfect contact and more. Sit back and relax and let Rickie Fowler put on a masterclass around the greens to help you get dialed and put the ball closer to the hole.

“What a lot of people would look at as a tough shot” We get it Rickie
Ricky just blew my mind right now with the fly fishing comparison!!!!! 🤯🤯 never heard that and it makes total sense!!!!!!

These pro's play a simpler game than us amateurs who over complicated everything. Guess you could call it skill.
You guys should include an amateur in the video as well to help show how this improvement can actually be attained by amateurs. I would be glad to be the first test subject!

I would also put my hand up to be a part of this. Any tips from a pro in areas so crucial in scoring points would be a huge honour for one but be so beneficial to our game as amateurs.

They will fake it by putting 1 handicapper chipping like dumb at first and clip it like a pro after pro tells him something.

@@tonythaiger93 🤣🤣🤣🤣 what would be cool is putting 3 different handicaps in the 20's, 10's, and single digits and show the improvements etc
5:14 - the feel to be able to do that confidently all of the time. He’s a good one ! 😊
I would have flop that last one into the bunker. Thank you for the lesson and good luck Rickie 🙏
finally a video longer than 40 seconds 😍
Fowler is fun to watch. Seems like a nice guy to.
Which Cobra wedge is he using in that TaylorMade video?

The ball actually. He used Taylormade balls for years. Please google it.
Great video. We need more of these from Ricky, very relatable and a good instructor.
Commitment outstanding
I love the fly fishing reference!
Love you Rick!
this dude was asking Rickie the hardest to answer questions i've ever heard. LOl
some great questions by the TM guy whose name I've forgotten, seen him on Horvat vids
Good questions trotty
You show all the chips from behind the ball. It would be better to have a few facing Ricky so we can see his arm and hand positions. I am looking to see if he keeps his hands moving forward but could never see it in your video.
I had no idea Ricki left Cobra .
I’m sure Ricky can hit whatever he wants, that’s why he’s a pro 🤷🏼♂️
What bounce is Rickie using on his wedges? Might have a role when chipping from those grainy/thight lies... He could also "skull" few shortsided chips with a 60 deg. and 12 bounce. Just saying..

which is why i've just got myself an 8° 60 lob wedge.
4:24 he’s using the bounce that’s why he’s not taking a divot
how does he do that flat handle shot without blading it??

It's a flop shop you want to Almost scoop the ball. KZread how to hit a flop shot and be prepared to blade a few while practicing.
1:24 Notice how he span the club? Never seen something like that. Freeze frame it he didnt even spin it fully around, sort of first in one direction than back. Probably to get the feel or something.

Not sure about golf, I could assume it’s similar, but maybe some sort of comfort tick or a feel thing. I do this with my pool cue on certain shots, where on my descent into address, I’ll roll or spin the cue with my grip hand. Don’t know why I started doing it 🤣
After watching this one video , i know now i need the ball forward off of front foot. I have poor technique and think the ball should be off back foot and seem to miss-hit a lot of green side shots. 🤔
Like the chest hint instead of wrist action
Watch Dan Greive…he really explains the technique
Makes it look so easy lol

It is easy. Amateurs just make it hard.
Im thinning most of those over the green. The ability to hit the ball so cleanly at a pretty high speed must take years of touch practice.

For what it's worth; if you are thinning them, make sure your weight is forward and the ball isn't too far in front of your stance. Sounds like the leading edge of the club is bouncing in in the ball.

It happens to me once in a while too, and I find it the most frustrating kind of bad shot in golf. 3 things that can help for this: 1. Be very committed to the shot and accelerate into the swing. 2. Keep your head down (but don't dig into the ground, otherwise you have the opposite of the thin shot: a fat shot that goes straight into the bunker). 3. Some would disagree here, but to me the last key point is to keep the wrist extremely loose and let the weight of the club do the work. Final point, not discussed here, which I find super important: the bounce of your wedge. If you face a hard, tight lie, you would as little bounce as possible (like 8 or 10). If your lie is soft (or if you are in the rough), take a club with high bounce (12 or ideally 14). To me, for this type of shots, bounce is more important than loft. Loft matters for fly + roll, but the key for good contact is bounce. And good contact is the most important. It doesn't take years of practice. In an hour, you can get there.
I’m sure Rickie isn’t thinking the tec in my ball is going to get me so close…. They should signed with Taylormade like I did
I am suffering from being absolutely bloooooooooody men'al
Trottie asking Rick all these technical questions, and Rick is just thinking, I see the shot and hit the shot, whats the problem?

😂😂😂
That is a "pitch'" not a chip. What sport are you announcing?
so many YT teachers tell you to hold the club upright for these chips, Rickie does the opposite

He lost me at “trusting your technique” lol
Lame. Much better actual insight all over the web. Rickie is just talking feels and hitting mediocre shots for a pro. It’s fun to watch pros play, but if you want instruction see an instructor.
Not the best video to learn from. Very little emphasis on setup. Very little on ball position and the basics of weight distribution all while being shot at an angle that is difficult to actually see the ball in relation to his body. Ricki must have done this early in the morning or just as he was leaving course.
Much talk, nothing much said.

Exactly. These guys have world class talent. They aren't teachers though. Guy asks him how he guards against digging into the grain. Ricky says I just try to keep it simple. Great tip smh...
