Beautiful song! My gpa was a brasero and worked the fields hard from dawn to dusk! My kids are first generation Mexican Americans and I show them pictures of him! Now 2 of them are serving our country and that makes me proud! They both say they are doing it for him because he worked hard to give us a dream and that dream can’t die!

Oh, Rick, this is spectacular!! My great-grandfather, while in Hood's Texas Rangers, married a beautiful daughter of a Mexican General. Sadly, she and the baby passed away in childbirth. I've always felt a strong connection and passion with Mexico, the people, the entertainers and I've always been captivated by the music! Such passion from the heart! This song and video speak of such a beautiful truth and honor of your heritage! You are one of the few great singers left - not caught up in all that new Country music! I love that Flaco is with you - you and he are truly diamonds in Tejano and Country music. It is such an honor to hear you in such a pure and heartfelt presentation...wishing I was in Mexico again! A strong BRAVO to you, my friend!! I'll cherish this song for a long, long time!!

No tree can be great without the deep roots that go back in time. Rick reminds us of this great fact we all take so much for granted. Loved listening to it.

This is such a beautiful, and yet so sad, song. It makes me think of the "dreamers". There are so many illegal aliens from Mexico who work at some of the most difficult, lowest paying, jobs. I have great compassion for them. I think if they work here, pay taxes here, raise their families here, they should at least be given the option of becoming a citizen. BTW, I have been a fan of Rick Trevino from the first time I heard him sing back in 1996. I hope this song gets him on the radio again. He certainly is due another gold record. God bless him.

I love his music and what a great song our town would not be the same with out our hipanic people. Where I came from in California there was only two people in my world Mexican and white I have worked in the fields and packing sheads and now factories so glad you are here in Michigan we all welcome our families.

I am not a Mexican, but my Mexican wife for over 30 years was born and raised in America, became an American citizen, worked in banks for 40+ years and wants to go back home - and take me with her. LOL. I am a Texan, born. Funny thing is, when we met, she refused to date me for 2 years. I have been resisting moving to Mexico for 2 decades. LOL. I've watched it twice and still have tears. I think about all the migrants at the border trying to escape a corrupt government, high crimes by the cartels, no employment, the list is endless. Once when I was a kid I did a lot of cotton picking and onions I'm proud to say that I am a Mexican that is what I am and I will always be that I'll never forget the days that I work so hard for many years I'm proud of my heritage keep strong or shall I say stay strong

I am Mexican born in the United States, whose family ancestors were here when Texas became part of America. That said I have known many People who have come from Mexico... my Father built a Home that had 4 rooms and a kitchen and bathroom with a shower for those Men who came to work in America for the season of work. When the season ended they would leave and come back yearly. These Men were good hard working honest Men, that became Family to us. This song reminded me of these Men who "all became citizens." They may have come here illegally, but applied for Citizen Ship and were granted Citizen Ship!

Estoy muy orgulloso de mis raices Mexicanas y de lo duro que trabajaron mis padres para sacarnos adelante siendo Mexicanos. But I’m also proud of being an American and working hard and making an honest living.

Rick is 100% Texan and 100% American and also proud of his Mexican Heritage this is the TEXAS I fell in love with the Texas of Ann Richards the Texas of Beto. Rick is one of the great Texas country voices don't let the Nashville whitewash country and erase the great artists who don't fit the current narrative.

Mexicans are Native Americans.... We didn’t cross the border, the border crossed us! I’m a descendant of Yaqui native blood, I love being American but I’m proud of my Yaqui native roots.. Time to recognize the Mexican people as native peoples of this land!!!!
