Lyrics:
When you were just a young girl and still in school
How come you never learned the golden rule?
Don't talk to strange men, don't be a fool
I'm hearing stories; I don't think that's cool
Why dont'cha tell me someone isn't lovin' you?
'Cause you're my girl, some say it's no longer true
You're seeing some slick continental dude
I'm beggin' you, please
(Don't talk to strangers)
Baby, dont'cha talk
(Don't talk to strangers)
You know he'll only use you up
(Don't talk, don't talk)
Don't talk
(Don't talk, don't talk to him)
Nobody, nobody ever told you

Rick Springfield deserves so much more credit than received. He never wanted to be a teen idol, but is one of the best looking guys in music and had to go with the flow of the music business. But being Dr. Noah Drake was a blessing in disguise. Props for his hard work and perserverence.

Myself I am a 60 year old man now bur back in the 1980s rick Springfield was truly amazing he did so much to bring pop into his world with a bang too MTV had lot's of impact on what music stars made it and why some didn't the decade of them grand 80s is still in everyone who refused to let age grind us down you are only old as you feel and for me I'm going to rock on until my life ends it's hard to express how music can bring you into another plane of existence all I can say is be true to thine ownself and let them memories live with others who appreciate music at its best I hope MTV and vh-1 will always know it's the artist who got them where they are now ok.

Rick Springfield was & still is an excellent lyricist, singer & guitarist. I do not think he can fully realizing his shaping of the 1980's . . . with his Studz McKenzie terrier, snappy story-songs that induces self-doubt & a burning need to feel & express the uncertainties. His fresh Ricky Nelson-ish looks added to being able to carry a GREAT stage presence, cool video visuals . . . the is living legend in the truest sense.

"Don't Talk to Strangers" is a song written and performed by Australian musician Rick Springfield. This song was released as a single in March 1982, from the album Success Hasn't Spoiled Me Yet. It reached #2 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 for four weeks, making it his second biggest hit in the United States after the #1 hit, "Jessie's Girl".

I put this up there with the Romantics first album, Greg Kihn, Joan Jett, Tom Perry, the Knack, Survivor, the Plimsouls, Cheap Trick’s 1980 and 82 discs…its this distinct window between 79 and 82, that has its own peculiar sound: power pop-ish, understated production, drums mixed in the back, post disco and post punk….before the synths and echoey drums and drum machines that took over in 83 and before MTV totally changed music….just this small batch of songs in a condensed period of time …
Today is 08/11/21. I'm 53 years old. I loved this song when I was a teenager and I still love it today. Rick is mostly known for, "Jessie's Girl", which is a great song but Rick has many great songs. This is just one of the many! I have five of his albums, the old school 33 LPs, one cassette and one CD. I have enjoyed his music for 40 years now.

Thanks for the love, care and support. Talking to you privately would be a great pleasure, where are you from?
Great memories back to 1980's
On en fait plus des chansons comme ça!! Les années 80 en musique exceptionnelle !!!!
I love the 80s! Awesome song and video! Go Rick ❤️🥰🎶🎵🤘🏻
Rick was the Grand Marshal at one of our Mardi Gras parades about 10 years ago. Because me aunt worked for the local mayor we got to go in the grandstands. When he passed and we toasted him he shook our hands. My sister and I were 38 and 32 respectively and we COMPLETELY reverted to teenyboppers, screaming and hugging each other like maniacs!
Saw him tonight...he's 1 week (8-23-19) from 70 years old. Here to report: Hasn't missed a beat. Great charisma. Great show. Very poignant. It was a stripped down acoustic with stories. Looks great (same). Funny. Rick is timeless.
Gotta love this one.... Some of the most special times in my life is with the music in the 80s
I miss the 80’s. My best friend and I loved this song back then. We were 13 years old..good times.
# 2 in the spring of 1982-Great song!
