WTAF. As a pixel artist, this video blows me away not only because of the quality of the art and animation itself but all the attention to small details like the camera and background objects moving within the pixel grid. I rarely ever see pixel art in video done so well; usually it's like pixel art images (or individual animated sprites) being manipulated using normal video editing lol. Outstanding stuff here. (Also, this video is 17 _entire minutes_ long-- gives me a headache even thinking about making something like this).

This is basically just a skin running on an already existing game. Like a demo or something. It’s running Tribute’s engine they used for “Mercenary Kings” and “Scott Pilgrim vs the World”. The way stands and attacks are directly stolen from characters in Scott Pilgrim

This is just SO much more then amazing. The fact that the creators of this took the time and effort out of their lives to do this is just awesome and I think this deserves so much more then what it has already. I can’t even make an animation of a simple copy and pasted ball roll across the screen smoothly so the fact ANYONE can animate and draw such awesome works like this is awesome!

So, no one is going to mention how useful and participatory morty is in this one? Badass confident posture and everything.

Actually some of this is out-sourced and a company makes the animation. It's not really a game. Same as the other animations. But they are incredible and I wish there were games like this.

The animating doesn't take that long, but Dan Harmon needs downtime for his cycles alcoholism and recovery. We get two seasons of Solar Opposites for every season of Rick and Morty because Harmon is not involved.

You channeled some serious Battle Toads, TMNT, and Mega Man vibes in this video. Well done!

I love the human element Paul adds, like Rick and Morty missing attacks/shots here and there. And the way everything slows to a crawl when there's too much action like a classic bullet hell.

This is astounding. There's a show reference literally every 5 seconds. Def one of the most impressive things I've seen in a long time.

This is the same artist who also did the art for Scott Pilgrim vs the World: The Video Game. The art style and animation here is the style of that game. That game was also a side scrolling beatem up like this. I would love for this to actually be a game. It’s possible

He already did. Literally all the sprites you need for a full game were made for this video. There's almost no point in NOT making a game now. Platformers like this can be made by a single person if most of the sprites and sounds are already provided.

This is not 8 bit. Mario is 8 bit and blocky as shit. These characters are cutting it close to being 64 bit. Which makes it 32bit. Nothing on an NES looks like this..... Nothing.

You probably didn’t get it but all these references came from other games from the 80s and 90s. And a few times this happened like in Metroid.

This might be my new favorite episode of Rick & Morty.

Incredible pixel art and sprite animations, a nearly endless supply of in-universe references and characters, and amazing fight choreography. What a blast. The soundtrack to this is unbelievably good I cant find anything else like it :(

How is this not a game?! this has the best pixel art and music of any game out there. honestly i would play this over any other game ever made
