If you’re headed to SDCC this year, although Wētā Workshop won’t have an official booth, Richard and a few of the crew will be there with some yet-to-be revealed collectibles in tow.

To think this man is 64, he looks the same as he did 20+ years ago. Such an iconic voice, love the way he speaks. What a legend.

When you have been Knighted for your proficiency in what you do, you can confidently call yourself a success. When that proficiency is in something you love, and you have turned it into a means to make a living, you are teaching the whole world the best possible way to live :) Congratulations and respect to Sir Richard Taylor!

Richard Taylor and his brilliant Weta Workshop team is the reason why The Lord of the Rings was so amazing. Every design is believable. It's like watching ancient history times.

Out of everyone involved in the making of the Jackson ME films, Sir Richard might be the most entertaining and engaging to listen to talking about his work, just an absolute Kiwi treasure.

You didn't have to ask many questions during this terrific interview. Richard was so engaged and having fun talking about his work. You know he would've enjoyed taking more time. He's such a talented and warmhearted gentleman.

Went to Weta Unleashed in February. It is absolutely BRILLIANT - totally worth the money and amazing bang for your buck. Loads of LotR and Hobbit nuggets to see as well. An incredible couple of hours. Thank you Richard for the opportunity to share in this creativity - a truly astonishing gift to the people.

Not related to this video, but just in case you haven't heard, Bernard Hill (who played Theoden in the LOTR movies), passed away on Sunday, May 5th, at age 79.

One of my biggest dreams is to become a filmmaker. The idea was put in my head while watching the bts of Lotr and there’s a clip where Peter says that these bts videos are mainly to inspire others to go into the field and that’s when it stuck with me. If there’s one thing that I would do as a filmmaker is utilize miniatures. To me they bring such a larger sense of realism and make the movie feel more like an immersive experience. The amazing wizards at Weta that I got to see during those bts videos truly cemented that belief within me. Thank you Matt for sharing this with us!

Just keep in mind, the bts footage of the making of lotr, is a once in a lifetime thing. PURSUE YIUR DREAM. ABSOLUTELY. My cousin is an actor/filmmaker now. It CAN be done. Just don't expect things to pan out as you see in that bts footage. Your experiences are going to be different. Which is perfectly fine.

Thank you for letting us Joe's and Jane's and in-between go on these trips with you, when we will 'never' set foot of that magical Island. We got to experience it through your eyes and those proud Kiwi eyes as well

Ever since I was a small child and saw my first behind the scenes documentary on Jim Henson and his studio, I have been fascinated by everything from special effects to prop making etc. I suffer from mobility challenges, so unfortunately, I will probably never be able to visit Unleashed. But I was wondering if they have considered doing a virtual version so that people who aren't able to travel there could also experience this? Because it sounds AMAZING!
