The 5 hour version has a lot of amazing scenes that are gone in the cut version. Always watch the full miniseries with Bergman.

@@vodkatonyq absolutely. I watched it on the criterion channel. Can definitely tell that this movie was deeply personal for the director.

_AMEN_ to that!!! The greatest work of Bergman's career, so by default it's one of the all time great works of film art.

The story of this film reminds me of some Dickens novels. A truly great work.

Bergman probably should have won best director for this.

Not enough people cite Bergman as among the all time great screenwriters. I'm glad Linklater puts him at the top... *Watch the 5 hr version - Watch the 5 hr version - Watch the 5 hr version - Watch the 5 hr version - Watch the 5 hr version* As with _Scenes From A Marriage,_ the 5 hr version is the only one you need!!!

Bergman actually prefeerd the 5 hour-version. It is really the real version. So many great scenes that had to be cut for time.

Agree but the 3 hour version is also incredible and flows really well, i think for the first time viewing, i would propably recommend this.

@@vanillatje8339 No way. The only reason to recommend the theatrical cut is if it's the only way you can see it on the big screen, as they do here. Each minute of the 5 hour version is essential, to me. Same with _Scenes From A Marriage..._

@@Jimmy1982Playlists And the TV version of Face to Face. Unfortunately, that's never been officially released. I think Woody Allen owns the rights to it. But if you know where to look, you can find it fairly easily...

For some explicable reason (magic!) the 5 hour version somehow feels shorter than the 3 hour version. In a way it is of course more complete, but not in a way that makes it longer.

ACTUALLY, BERGMAN (THE BEST) MADE A FEW FILMS AFTER THAT --- SORT OF LIKE KUROSAWA MAKING THOSE 1980'S PICTURES, THE ONES AT THE VERY END --- DREAMS, OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT. I HAVE A FASCINATION FOR LAST FILMS BY THE LEGENDS --- LIKE ORSON WELLES MAKING "OTHER SIDE OF THE WIND" or maybe "FAKE" which are chilling movies. Anyways, that's how it was....
