Rich Russia: Yekaterinburg - this city on Trans-Siberian could be russian capital
Yekaterinburg is the capital of the Ural and a first stop of the Trans-Siberian Railway.
It's one of the richest Russian cities and the fourth city by population in the country. Once it almost became Russian capital!
It is historically known to be the place where in 1918 the Bolsheviks murdered Tsar Nicholas II and his entire family.
But nowadays it's considered by Forbes to be one of the 30 best cities for business!

After looking the video I understand a bit more why moscowians to not like Yekatrinburg. It truly looks like a decent city with a bright future and nice people. Hopefully Russia will change and they stop accumulating all the wealth to Moscow and the other regions will be able to prosper.
I studied Russian history when I was in high school. I am familiar with the Romonov dynasty and tsars like Peter the Great, Catherine the Great, right up to the unfortunate circumstances of the last tsar, Tsar Nicholas II and his family and how their lives intertwined with Rusputin. Yakatrinburg was where the Nicholas II and his family were killed .

I have always enjoyed my stay here. Yekaterinburg is a fresh, modern Russian city. If I was ever to live in Russia, Yekaterinburg would be my first choice!

Here was murdered the Tzar Family in the mill house of Nikolay Nikolayevitsh Ipatyev ( he later died in Prague in 1938 ) . Brezhnev has the house demolished by Yeltsin not to yield any clues .

Политически -да, центр УРФО, но это организационный момент. Географически - все, что восточнее Уральских гор, является Сибирью, по названию равнины. Поэтому часть привычного нам Урала, и в правду, находится в Сибири, включая Екатеринбург.

@@xInShowx "Географически", клоун, до равнины ещё километров 200. А Екатеринбург относится к Уралу, как территории "уральской горной страны". "УРФО", как чисто бюрократическое творение, тут ни при чём от слова вообще.
Все враньё! Екатеринбург всегда был промышленным городом, с момента его основания в 1723 году. Вся Европа построена из уральского камня и уральского железа. Статуя Свободы в Нью Йорке имеет металлоконструкций из уральского металла. Эйфелева Башня тоже сделана из уральского металла. Санкт Петербург, Варшава, Рига, Киев и прочие европейские города сделаны из уральского камня.
