RIBCAGE RX0 - Footage Sample 1

Our first sample clips shot entirely with our new Ribcage RX0. A modified version of the Sony RX0 with manual MFT and C-Mount lens compatibility. You can also mount most popular SLR lens types via common adapters to take full advantage of the camera's large sensor and advanced shooting options.

Lenses used:
- 25mm f1.8 MFT (Unbranded)
- 85mm f1.5 MFT (Rokinon)
- 2/3" 16mm 5MP C-Mount (Computar)
- Nikon 50mm f1.4 (via MFT adapter)
- Nikon DX 18-70mm f3.5 (via MFT adapter)
This footage is presented in 4K (UHD) but it's a mix of resolutions and frame rates. The 4K footage was captured via HDMI to an Atomos Shogun Inferno. The rest of the footage was recorded to the camera's internal SD memory card.

It should be compatible with Metabones MFT speedboosters.
can you fit a lens on this that will give you a full fisheye or the same FOV as a gopro?

There are a number of fisheye options available. One of the most cost effective is the iZugar 220 MFT and you can go large as well with Entaniya's line of HAL fisheye lenses. Fujinon also offers a 2.7mm 1" C-Mount lens for super-wide fisheye
How did you guys do 960fps on 1080p? And the qualtiy is much better than normal. Is this due to the other lens use?

I believe we just used the standard 1080p / 960 HFR settings in the camera. Likely the improvement in quality is due to the lens being used. In this case an 85mm MFT f1.5 which lets in loads of light. A lot of light is crucial for really high frame rates

Can this be used to rig out a Yi 4k+?

We did make a mod kit for the Yi 4K/4K+ which has since been discontinued. To our knowledge www.ragecams.com still has some stock of that item

Need external monitor for manual focus...

It's actually quite easy to focus without an external monitor with the RX0. The camera has a focus peaking feature which highlights areas on the image that are in sharp focus. In addition you can hold down a button to focus zoom to make sure you get it perfect.
Anybody know if this could work on a phantom 2

Very likely that the Phantom 2 can carry it with a small lens & the rear of the camera will fit nicely into the zenmuse H4-3D but HDMI is covered. A custom bracket would be needed to hold the camera in. A very small lens would be needed - like an M12, but most of those are designed for a smaller image sensor. We'll have a look around to see if there's a lens that might work! We haven't flown ours in a while, so this might be a good excuse.

@Henry K. Hill with regard to a phantom 2 we've found that most lenses that are appropriate for the image sensor in the RX0 are much too heavy for the Zenmuse. It could be possible with a small 'M12' style lens but there would be significant vignetting. An unmodified RX0 would likely work with some creative mounting.
