Put your own glass on the amazing Sony RX0 II with our Ribcage interchangeable lens mod. This fully modified RX0 II camera comes configured with a passive micro four thirds (MFT) mount* and can be re-configured to C-Mount at any time with the included mounting ring. With this mount combination you can attach almost any lens, or use your camera with imaging equipment such as microscopes and telescopes. Use your SLR lenses with an optional adapter, or use some great vintage cinema lenses for a unique look.
If desired, the removable IR-cut filter allows you to capture footage in the wavelength of your choice for custom imaging and scientific applications. Control up to 5 cameras at once via WiFi and Bluetooth (Android/iOS/PC). Pair each camera with the new Sony CCB-WD1 Wired Control Box and create massive VR or bullet time arrays of up to 100 cameras with frame-by-frame sync accuracy!
In addition our premium aluminum components help keep the camera cool for extended shooting!

Really extends the uses for what has been a great lil camera.

I would love to have one of these with the mod but don't know enough about the c mount or the other types of lenses that can be mounted on the modified camera. I would get one with a lens that produces similar or a little wider field of view like gopros. that would be awesome!!!!

There are a number of wide angle options, such as Fujinon FE185C086HA-1 1" C Mount 2.7mm, or iZugar 220 degree MFT

Nice camera mod. I have RX0 II and i wonder, could i use Olympus M.Zuiko Digital 45mm f/1.8 MFT lens with that DIY MOD KIT and what crop factor i get? I don't plan to use C-mount because i don't have this type of lens. Better if you guys will sell MFT and C-MOUNT MOD KITS separately.

It doesn't look like that lens will work as it appears to be fully automatic with a powered focus ring. The MFT mount on the modified camera is passive, meaning it supports manual lenses only. You can find detailed crop factor information towards the bottom of this page: www.back-bone.ca/rx0-guide/

Will it work if I have a cage on the rx0-2? Also does this give up on all water resistance?

Of cuz it would lose water resistance property.
Can i use it with Laowa 17mm f/1.8 MFT , and what crop/focal lenght i will get with a 35mm equivalent? I plan to use it as drone camera

Yes you should be able to use that lens just fine as long as it has manual controls and it looks like it does. A 17mm lens on an RX0/RX0 II camera is roughly equivalent to a 50mm on a full frame camera. The crop factor for RX0's vs 35mm full frame is 3.07x
can you fit a lens on this that will give you a full fisheye or the same FOV as a gopro?

Hi, If you use this mod taking the cover off. Can you put the original cover back on and still maintain the RX0 ii being waterproof whenever you do not need the mod?

It's a full camera conversion that removes the original lens and exposes the image sensor, so unfortunately it wouldn't really work.

Can it use the entire 1 inch sensor area to record video?I am struggling to choose rx0ii or insta360 1-inch。The rx0ii has more advanced sensor, the insta360 uses a larger sensor area .So which one image quality is better？

The RX0 II does not use the entire sensor area, that's correct. The modified RX0 has a crop factor of roughly 3x (vs full frame) and the Insta's is roughly 2.7x. The Insta can also record to a broader range of resolutions and frame rates including 5.3K and 4K/60 while the RX0 is limited to max 4K/30 and 1080p. That being said, from a professional standpoint the RX0 II has many more pro features and settings that you can delve into to get the exact look you want. That and the fact that you also have the advantage of an uncompressed 4K live HDMI feed at 24 or 30p definitely gives it the professional edge. Having the option to record directly to a format like ProRes via an Atomos device is quite valuable both for increased quality and as a focus aide. The RX0 also has built in focus peaking for when you are using the rear screen.

Does RX0 have focus peaking? Or how to focus with its tiny screen?

Yes the RX0 does have a built in focus peaking feature when focus is set to manual. In addition you can hold down a button on the rear of the camera to zoom in temporarily for focus assist. The cameras also have a 4K/30 or 4K/24 clean live HDMI feed so you can also use a field monitor or Atomos if you choose.
