Have had rib pain in the chest for 2 years now and been to multiple doctors but never gotten any relief. Just tried the pinning exercise and heard a pop in my chest, then finally sweet relief. I have tried every stretch imaginable, but this is the first thing that has ever really helped. Thank you very much for posting this video.

After almost 4 years of living with left, back subluxation issues, this is the first thing that has given me relief... even after chiropractic treatments which lasted about 5 minutes since my well-trained muscles kept doing their job. I kept asking for home treatment adjustment tips since it didn't last but no one would help me.I am excited to sleep through the night tonight and will be passing this link on to every tortured friend I know. It's amazing how many people live with perpetual or intermittent rib subluxation and i am now PREVIOUSLY one of them!

Dawn: Thanks for your testimony on this. I suffer from a perpetual floating rib and have given up going to the chiro. since I'd be there every week. I'm going to try these tips and hopefully they will assist me as well. I learned I have low bone density, so chiro. is now a concern. Glad it worked for you.

@@DZ-ci3db super late reply, but I have a rib that's been messed up for years now and I also have chronic heartburn! I never knew they could be related, but I definitely suffer from both, so I can be a +1 for your sample size. I'll be going to the chiropractor sometime this week (I sneezed today and popped it back out so bad there's a physical bulge on my back) and I'll try to pay attention and see if the heartburn which had also been plaguing me today goes away too!

I woke up this morning and couldn’t breathe or stand up straight from pain in my front lower rib.. so I decided to give this video a try and as soon as I moved from squeezing my shoulders together to giving myself a bear hug, I felt my rib pop slightly and the pain was gone!!! What worked for me, since none of these exercises did more beyond momentary relief, is to stand in a doorway whilst propping up the popped rib against the inner part of the doorframe, and pushing with the opposite side (the arm on the side that does not hurt from the popped rib). You can change the angle to hit the correct (popped) rib in whichever way works or feels best, you can use a towel if the doorframe hurts your back too. This is the first time my back feels symmetrically flat on both sides.

Thank you for this info! It's very helpful. I had a small XMas Eve party and stayed up late doing dishes in a stooped position with my toes clenched. All night my feet hurt, then in the morning my top ribs went out. Your superimposed rib diagram was the first helpful bit, my back is just a burly by the way (not really!). Great exercises, they help! I'm forced to figure out how to help myself since it's Christmas weekend here in the Pacific NW and we just got dumped with snow. What also helped was rolling around on a tennis ball. It's my understanding it's the bottom of the rib that pops out, so rolling your fingers in a circular way and crunching upwards or using a tennis ball also helps to really encourage the rib to move in. I got my top ribs in yesterday, then my bottom rib went out last night. I got up in the middle of the night and used the foam roller, but I should have used the tennis ball. I just got it back in. Maybe tonight I'll finally get some sleep!

Thanks, Spencer! I've got a rib that pops out every two or three years, give or take. Always the same one, always with terrible pain referred through my chest below my left pec. Followed your exercises as I watched, and got relief by the end of the video. It's not back in yet, but there was a noticeable reduction in contact pain at the intersection of the rib and sternum. By the way, the rib went this time because of a massive sneeze! That's a new one, but the causes always seem different. So thanks again, and I'll continue the exercises.

I used to have to wait days to get in to see a doctor, and pay a lot of money for them to help me (or not because often times it would require several appointments). When the country shut down in March 2020, however, I was forced to deal with the pain of my rib slipping out of place, since chiropractor's offices were closed. Your video was one of the greatest silver linings of my year. Your exercises instantly help and I'm extremely grateful. Thank you so much!

Just want to say "Thank You" , Spencer. Your information was more helpful than anything else that I found . I slid my right are under my pillow above my head in my sleep and popped a rib out at 3 am. The pain was excruciating and instantaneous, waking me up out of a dead sleep. I was in agony desperately searching for something to relive the pain and restore my ability to take a normal breath. Your exercises gave me immediate relief so that I could breath. On a personal note all these asshats that make mention of you speech are nothing more than saggy ball-sacks that have such low self esteem that they have to belittle others to make themselves feel better. Seriously, subhuman pond scum. You however, are an asset to the world, So again "Thank YOU Spencer" , you rock!!!!

Thanks for making this video. The others I looked at were all focused on the foam roller, which I was already doing. It's 1am and I'm dieing. I have student conferences tomorrow and I'm in throwing up levels of pain; I'm just hoping to get in to see my PT tomorrow. The 2nd move made all the difference - went back to the foam roller after and things started popping. Thanks again
