Rhythm Roulette: Wondagurl | Mass Appeal
Ойын-сауық
For this episode of Rhythm Roulette, Mass Appeal heads up to Toronto to link with Wondagurl.
If you crossed paths with WondaGurl, consider yourself blessed. Although she's a shy and kind girl on the surface, she's one of the meanest producers in the game. Since learning some tricks of the trade from Boi-1da, she's been getting placements with Travis Scott ("Antidote" & "Uptown"), Jay Z ("Crown"), Drake ("Used To" & "Company"), SZA ("Teen Spirit"), and Rihanna ("Bitch Better Have My Money"). That's not all of her credits either.
After hitting up Rotate This, WondaGurl ends up with Solid Sound's "A Wooden Box," Images In Vogue's "In The House," and The Magnolias' Concrete Pillbox. Laying The Magnolias to the side, Wonda uses samples from the other two records for a bass heavy beat. Watch her craft the banger above.

That’s wild. She didn’t just make it she went beyond.
She made a good beat considering her source material.
That was really incredible, she made something TOTALLY different, like go back and listen to the original loops she had and then listen to the final cut. Very impressed with her final product.
Something about her production is so timeless this beat could come today
i like how she was tweaking those frequencies to make the two samples collaborate she is pretty good
Omg I don’t think you people realize how difficult it is to make a beat like that. The creativity with the cuts and the layering of three different parts and then the drum pattern was hard yet simple 😳🔥
She doesn't say a word but her music speaks for her. WoW!! She really is WondaGurl! RESPECT!!!
what makes this so wild is how she took that weird part in the disco sample with the resonant/harmonics lead spazzing that was so out of tune and then dissected it, chopped it, and sped it up, and in doing so created a more succinct but streamlined melody by synthetically compressing it and making the artifacts from the regular bpm comply to be more in tune / melodically friendly adding the delays and layering the sample from the other record with it.
So much talent here in Toronto keep reppin!
