Rhythm Roulette: Supah Mario | Mass Appeal
Ойын-сауық
“I think I really did my thing picking these records dawg,” says Columbia, South Carolina producer DeMario Priester, aka Supah Mario, who recently pulled up to NYC’s Good Records and took the Rhythm Roulette challenge. Digging through the crates blindfolded, the producer behind hits like Young Thug’s “Wyclef Jean” and “Ice Melts” a standout track off Drake’s ‘More Life’ stumbled onto some heat from James Taylor, GangStarr, and some old-school dancehall courtesy of the Dillinger vs. Trinity ‘Clash’ LP. “I told y’all this was gonna be some Jamaican vibes!” he exclaimed after the needle drop. But he ended up skipping the reggae together and finding some ill breaks on the James Taylor and the Original Flying Machine disc, adding some of his own keyboards to complete the beat. Check out the latest episode of Rhythm Roulette right now.

@@crustyclub2057 I am lol. Funny thing is I barely used it until version 8. I just found my mpc2000, and zoom sampletrak easier to use in those days .I always found it odd that so many people discredited FL users because it was "too easy to use" and before 9th wonder many would discredit it due to lack of hits being made with it at the time. Much of the hate has vanished in 20 years, but some folks are still hanging onto old myths.

At 2:34 my entire childhood flashed before my eyes. That's vintage reggae right there boy
That was dope! After the last episodes, this one is really good. Peace!
shoutout James Taylor!
My eyes lit up when I heard “Ooh La la ah Oui Oui”. Amazing that there was so much more from there records that was still left to be discovered. Nicely done nonetheless
Supah Mario actually one of my favorite producers. Good shit
This dude seems really cool. Actually showing a bit of insight into his way of producing and doing more than just adding an 808, even went with a track most wouldn't have given a second thought. Refreshing to see!
I like how hr keeps it all neat. No crazy arrangements and all, just a simple drum patterns and fire sampling 🔥🔥🔥
Been waiting for him to come on for a while, this is a blessing 🙌🏾
Haven’t liked one of these in a while. Thanks for restoring my faith in the series!
Finally a good one!

Supah Mario is one of my favorite recent producers. He's been killing Thug beats, and Blue Tint is one of the hardest songs on Drake's album to me. Great episode.
Jheez this is so sick
Finally!!! This was flames
Didn't expect that. Straight fire!
"I think we got a beat." My son go hard. That first beat had me flowing.
Great job, i was able to watch the whole video!
Such a dope energy he gives off. He's underrated.
love how he went with 2 different styles of beats for this. Supah Mario is versitile as a fuck haha. that first joint was on some DJ khalil shit and that second one sounded like some ol Futurama😂
One of my favourite Roulette's!
Just having the confidence to know what to look for is what amazes more then anything hearing through the sample if that makes sense my favorite series on KZread much Love RR
Dam i love this show!!!
That's was one of the best and most entertaining ones to watch imo

This one was fantastic.
Great job Mass Appeal this was a dope episode...Supah Mario underratted to me
This joint is the fire
Finally! Best RR in a minute by far.
This joint is fire!
Pretty good. After terrible recent episodes it looks like Mass Appeal has asked producers to up their game and try harder. We've have to wait to see if the improved quality continues.

its dope to see how much people seem to agree, which means we werent ''haters'' as they like to describe recent criticism for below standard episode/producers, this one was fairly decent indeed

@@Parialated Some good producers came and still made just OK or less than OK beats too.
@Parialated
5 жыл бұрын
@@kid5042 fair enough, we cant hold every producer to the 9th wonder standard, but its also the workflow/copout/lazy/easy routes some of the producer took regardless of how big the producer's name is,for me its not just mouse clicking looping a sample literally (not chopping or flipping it) and put drums under it and being super content with it... People can see and feel the passion and effort regardless of the outcome of the beat... I see a legend as eric sermon being humble shy even while dropping a above average beat being critical of himself, and i see people i never heard of slurring and mumbling sentences, barely making sense dropping a wack 4 bar loop beat and pretend if they just shitted gold
