Rhythm Doctor Custom Level - Act 5-2 Polyrhythm of Freedom

Ойындар

Song is called "Rhythm of Freedom" and was made with Suno.
Level Description: Lucky isn't taking the hospitalization well, and keeps looking for excuses to practice. Unfortunately, we just don't have the staff to keep watch over him 24/7. We know you can't keep him in bed, so please just monitor his heartbeat while he trains.
Honestly I didn't expect to make these before the Act 4 levels either, but it just kind of happened.
Anyways if there's one act that could REALLY use some more levels it's act 5, with a whopping 2 plus a boss, ignoring the intermission. We haven't seen acts this short since Act 1.
And every single level has a tutorial. Even the boss stage. And one of the night stages (more on that later) Cripes, there's like no room to let the mechanics breathe.
Granted these are some of the most high quality levels we've seen in this game, to the point where these official levels are quickly surpassing what I'm capable of recreating, but that doesn't excuse this pacing.
All this to say a few more Act 5 stages are sorely needed, starting off with an idea I had ever since I saw those subdivision beats.
ADOFAI might be the better game for visualizing polyrhythm, but it's still a fun concept that could make a decent RD level.
That did create an issue with finding music since polyrhythm is already pretty rare. Combine that with royalty free, as well as tonally consistent, and I'm out of luck. Obviously best case scenario, you compose something from scratch, but I've not the technical know how nor experience for that.
As such I used suno.com. It didn't really give me exactly I was looking for, but it gave me something close, and honestly, I was willing to take it by that point. Still, the triplet rhythm is kind of weak in level.
Oh yeah, this also gives more opportunities to expand on Lucky's character. Completely unneeded since you got 5 levels plus intermission dedicated to solely him, but considering his characterization and arc happen over like 2 levels (and a night shift which is just... lost if you don't play it) it can feel very abrupt how drastically he develops.
So even if a lot of this dialogue is old hat, I think it's fine.
Known Issues: Sometimes when playing, a oneshot will get stuck on the left. It's purely visual and doesn't affect timing. I don't think that's specific to this level, but possibly a rare issue with oneshots in general.
No 2P mode since I don't have any idea how I'd make that work. The polyrhythm stuff already kind of overwhelms the ears, and any distraction might just make it worse.
As for night shift, if you wanna save the 5 beat reveal for 5-2N (now 5-4N) then you're left with 4-3 and 3-2 polyrhythms, and like before, best scenario, you just write something new for those.

Well it's a custom level, so not yet. Wouldn't mind if they stole this idea though. Still 3:4 polyrhythm is a bop. We should all be exposed to it at some point.

Wow! I found your channel after getting recommended your 5-4 video, and It's surprising how good these are. Using the shadow is such a cool and unique way of implementing polyrhythms!

Thanks man. Was really curious to see what fun things they'd do with those subdivision beats when they were introduced, but the game just immediately moves to a new mechanic. Hopefully they come back in the future, and hoping they try to do more with them.
