Rhodesian Ridgeback: TAIL & PELVIS "OUT" AFTER 8 HOURS IN A PLANE 😱✈️ [PART 1 of 3]
How do you describe the coolest dog that just arrived in NYC?? Meet STETSON, one of the chillest dogs we've had on Animal Cracker in a while! He and his mom have just moved to the city from Germany, and after a long flight he was feeling a little achey. Luckily, his loving and caring mom knew just where to take him! In this longer session, we get to work at easing some of Stetson's problems and getting him back on track!

That‘s so true!
All animals can smell the adrenaline in your breath when you are scared and they can also hear your heart beat at all times so they know if you're calm, stressed, frightened etc. My blood pressure is off the charts. The amount of times a med professional has said its so high they can't even record a reading is phenomenal. Heart attack or stroke or both in my future, stuff happens. But my cat knows when im having a hypertensive attack and will come sit with me because she knows from passed episodes, her presence and stroking her fur helps lower my heart rate. Animals know far far more than we ever give them credit for. There is no such thing as a dumb animal. The only dumb animal I ever met walked on two legs. No duch thing as a bad animal only bad owner. Never confuse bad behaviour in animals with an abused animal either. Approach with caution and be kind, they very quickly realised your no threat 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊

I love that you talk to everyone while you work on a patient - the animal, their human, and US, your audience. It's such an educational process watching how you approach your work, diagnosing as you go, confirming with the pet owners and then working respectfully with your patients - often instructing how THEY can help their animals. Absolutely a pleasure to watch every time. Thank you!

Stetson has had a lot of socialization which these dogs require in order for them to not be aggressive.
He kept giving “ok, I’m ok, we’re good” licks as a confirmation after an adjustment maneuver. He’s just precious! Dr. Doug, I can’t help but be concerned about your knees. Please do be careful with them, sitting back on your haunches with them flexed so far. I know you’re the doctor but unfortunately I know about injuries all too well. Many people and animals depend on you and we need you in top shape! Also enjoy how you bring the human/guardian through what you’re doing and let them feel for themselves what’s going on. Excellent!!! 🙌👍👏

Dr. Doug I have to say this video was amazing! I love how you talk to Stetson educating him and his own along with me the viewer. By showing the landmarks and what you are feeling, doing, and the why we see the abnormal movements and the movement after the adjustments. I am going to confess, I am a Orthopedic, Neuroscience RN, I have to say I have a totally new understanding of of why chiropractic care is so important and helpful when it comes to helping and realigning the spine and muscles. Thank you, I will not be so quick to roll my eyes when I see chiropractic treatment. You can teach an old dog new tricks!! I say the with upmost respect! Thank you again! ❤❤

Stetson is a beautiful boy.
We've had German Shepard's, dachshunds, greyhounds, terriers, all sorts of mixes. The most faithful dog we ever owned was a Rhodesian ridgeback. Mum was also a horse person. She trained wild horses. I've never seen a more faithful/guardian dog as her dog Brodie the Ridgeback. She loved him more than all the others, even the horses she trained.

@triciac1019 he was territorial around other dogs and male men! Especially men! He never liked mum and dad having cuddles! He had a gentle nature around our other female dogs and cats but wasnt super social around dogs he didnt know. But with the right socialisation I'm sure like with most breeds they could be!
Stetson is handsome with a sweet disposition. I've been told Rhodesian Ridgeback's are great dogs. I'll bet that flight in a kennel was part of what gave him trouble. Fortunately, he is young and pliable. Glad you helped him. And, Stetsons mom too.

Dr. Doug, we have a house goat, we talk to her face and she looks us in the eyes as we talk to her. She knows a lot of English words, especially "bath" which she doesn't like. She's a pygmy, she goes on many short driving excursions with us, she loves the car wash. I really do believe animals are happier when they know when they talk to us we listen especially if she's hungry, she stares at us and we refill her dishes. She has a great farrier who has fixed her arthritic hoof. Our farrier said she was the most domesticated goat he's ever seen. Just thought I share that with you.
Dr. Stetson... this video was not boring; but instead, was sweet and very educational! I thoroughly enjoyed it! 🦋💜💜💜💜💜💜💜🦋

I had a Rhodesian Ridgeback until last April and she passed away at the age of 13. She was 27" tall and weighed 110 lbs. She was the best dog I had ever known. I am addicted to this breed and will eventually get another. They are not the breed for everyone. When puppies they love to chew on their people. All pups love to chew but Ridgebacks are the kings and queens of chewing. In fact, chewing is the number 1 thing new owners comment on. They were bred to work independently of humans and think their idea is the best and that is why people say they are stubborn. You have to get them to think your idea is better than theirs. They will not tolerate harsh treatment so positive training is recommended. They are also very intelligent and manipulative. The protection instinct is bred into them and do not require protection training, in fact, this could make them aggressive. A well socialized ridgeback knows the difference between good and bad and should not be aggressive. When I talked to people my dog did not know she would quietly put herself in between me and them. She also did that is a dog was moving too fast around me. They are not here to please us like a German shepherd or a lab. If you are thinking about getting one I suggest you go to a dog show or contact a good breeder to get to know this breed.

Once when I was outside playing with one of the ridgebacks I had growing up, my mom yelled my name so I turned around and when I did he bit my butt cheek. He didn’t hurt me, he just thought we were still playing 😂. He also loved to put the corner of a blanket between his paws and suck on it like a pacifier. I really miss that goofy boy.

It's unusual to see a Ridgeback of this quality in the US. Stetson is really built to work. He looks leaner, taller and more "square" when he stands than the average . I'll bet he has a stretchy lope when running. He certainly has the type you would want to copy...likely why he is intact. wow Thanks JoJo!
Dr.Doug has been a huge inspiration to me,following his course made me chiropract the horses at riding school and then my goats and dogs at home. Remember! Caution people, better massage than go and Crack, either your animals or yourself

I absolutely love watching you with the animals and love that you help them ❤
This giant dog was sooo cute he was so worried with his owner constantly looking at her and when he massaged her he was right there taking care of her. I love dogs.
