Hallo! 🇩🇪🙋🏻‍♀️🕊️

I've watched this over and over. Particularly like the younger generations carrying on the tradition. Most of my German ancestors are from northern Germany. Mecklenburg area and a few by way of Norway from Erfert area back in the 1700s and before and farmers and taylors as we're most before industrialization. It's great to get something other than the typical Bavarian tourist dancing we see in the U.S. A.. Thank you for posting.

In response to your term “Bavarian Tourist Dancing”, my older sister called up on KZread a Bavarian dance video and was thrilled at how “German” it was. I explained to her that Bavaria is the German equivalent of West Virginia and that to most Germans a Bavarian dance routine was like watching Hee Haw on TV. She was confused.

My family’s PA Dutch roots go back 300 years with more recent German immigrants occasionally marrying into the family through the generations. I found my 5x great grandparents graves and their tombstones are in German. Found out I’m 75% genetically/ethnically German which is very unusual for an American as we tend to be such mutts through generations of various immigrant groups marrying each other. So I’m 75% German, 10% Slovak and 7% Swedish. And a smidge of English. But now I know why I’ve always been drawn to the German language and the people and history. It’s literally in my DNA.

Yes same.. And i know ppl who did this.. Like my mom and her friends but i'm a lesbian with short bright purple hair so my mom doesn't want me on any of these events (literally last weekend was my godmothers bday and she invited all these ppl who she used to meet for dances and all that and i wasn't allowed to come 😐)

kzread.info/dash/bejne/l4NmsMNuecqWetI.html You can find it here. It's not the exact same version as in this Video, that can only be found on the LP written in the description (which as far as I know isn't available on youtube), but it's the same group and everything. I would really recommend their other stuff as well. It's not only dance music, but they're a great look into the very interesting east german folk scene (political stuff as well etc.)
