Hello Anurag, I am using ADS2020 (Update 1) and went into the design guide under the amplifier section and selected the "HarmonicZopt" workspace under DesignGuide==>1-Tone non-linear simulations==>'Harmonic Impedance Opt.' However, after I run it with the device provided, the simulation runs with no problem but when I go into the data display the only tab that seems to mostly display any data is on the first tab. When I go to 'Equations' tab in the data display all the equations are red though their syntax is correct and they are indeed choosing the right variable equations from the schematic. Now I know that I typically can't plot a variable in data display unless it's for a measured equation or used in a simulation controller typically but I wasn't sure if I was doing something wrong or if there may be a slight error in the design guide for this as I know it's likely over 10 years old now from the 'Read Me' schematic in the design guide work space. Please help if you can! and as always thanks for your help and these videos.

Hi, Here are my comments: 1. The template you referred is created for Optimization. Instead of running Simulation you need to run Optimization once it finishes close Opt cockpit & update the variables and look at the data display and you would see all equations being calculated properly and you can see load and source impedances as you expect. 2. If you want to see the data after simulation then double click on HB controller, go to Output Tab and select Add/Remove and then select all Rsrc, Rload, Imsrc, lmload etc and click on Add button so that these variables are sent to dataset after simulation. 3. Run simulation and everything should be as expected 4. Reason it is done this way is to prevent users to run normal simulation, see the impedance data and assume that these are optimum values for impedance matching which they will be not unless you run Optimization to obtain desired value, ideally with FinalEF=0 or very close to 0. Hope this helps....👍

@@BhargavaAnurag , that worked! I did the optimization but was still getting red equations in display after I updated schematic however once I put the variables in the equation onto the harmonic balance output that fixed it all! this was such a huge help! Hi @BhargavaAnurag Thank you for your excellent explanation. I have a question. I am,m using TSMC 0.18um rf technology to design a power amplifier. But I haven't a data sheet to determine "Z_Source_Fund" to run the Load Pull simulation. How much of it should I put into the simulation? Please guide me. Best regards.

You shouldn't get hung up on Z source, you can always start using 1-5 Ohms as a starting point and then you can arrive at the proper impedance when you start to use Load Pull or Source Pull.

Hello Sir, Can tell me step by step how to change the ideal circuit to a microstrip line using MLIN, MTEE components. I have designed the basic rectifier and didn't know how to change it into stripline form.
@BhargavaAnurag

I am not sure what you want to convert...usually in circuit sim you can connect component using wire and later want to connect them using microstrip lines etc...if that is what you want then simply define the substrate using MSUB on schematic and use transmission lines from library and use them on your circuit design. If it is rectifier then it will be quite low frequency so microstrip lines may not affect circuit performance too much.

You don't need that as you can find it out from the Load Pull and Source Pull simulations. You can start with your best guess and then narrow it down based on the simulation results.
