TDSM 99 The 49-46 was absolutely horrible and no way how you could come to that logically I. favor of Jones. I am sorry it is truth. However, to be the champ you have to beat the champ. Nowhere near as impressive as Cody did to Dom but to change the title over for all intents a draw. Reyes did not beat the champ. And the champ certainly did not defend his title. A draw would have been legit and made people mad still but more accurate.

I think Reyes also had the 4th. Just because jones got him down didnt merit the round. He did nothing with it, and Reyes had the better of the striking exchanges. Jones can only point to the 5th as the only round he clearly won, but only because Reyes thought he had it won and was stalling for the win. That's why he was on his bicycle and circling the cage. Reyes definitely won 3 rounds. Possibly even 4, the 4th is being overlooked as Jones' for a BRIEF takedown with absolutely nothing done with it. That makes you forget Reyes pieces him up that round too? Jones lost no way to claim he won more than 2 rounds.

I personally dont think the second round was as clear cut to Reyes as most people think. I had rounds 1/3 to Reyes and 4/5 to Jones with the 2nd being the deciding factor. I watched the 2nd round again to see if I was wrong and I still think its a 50/50. Reyes mainly only threw ones to the body of Jones to try and keep him away as Jones was always coming forward with having ring control most of the time. The only few exceptions were the exchange in the first minute where Reyes had him on the back foot and came at him a quite a few blows, most of which if you look back had missed or didn't really have any significant effect. Jones himself threw a lot of ones but to the head instead of the body like Reyes. At the end of the day this round could've gone either way, I wouldn't be mad if you picked Reyes but I don't think it was as clear cut. I had Jones winning the 2nd though personally.

No I think he just has trouble fighting really good fighters. Santos was only 6'2, not his size and than there was gus and reyes. He destroyed Gus in the rematch. Think he would do really well at HW, Stipe doesn't use his size and reach at all, watch the way stipe throws his punches, largely a picket fighter. Francis would most likely ko him though.

@Mr Boxing I haven't had a chance to watch the fight again, but from what I remember the only clear rounds were 1 for Reyes, and 4 5 for Jones. As I scored it live I remember thinking rds 2 and 3 were competitive. Which is why a 48 - 47 either way is fair. 49-46 though, idk about that one.

I had it 2-2 going into the 5th which imo Jon took. However, it's testament to the terrible points system that we're even having this discussion. For me a 10-9 should be used for a feeling-out round or one where the fighters are near enough equal, with maybe the slightest advantage to one of them based on octagon control or something of the sort. 10-8 should be used when there's a clear winner of the round without it being total domination or nearly finished, and 10-7 should be when there are multiple knockdowns, a lot of damage dealt, submissions nearly secured or the fight being close to stopped. As Rogan says the whole time the current system only works affectively in Boxing because there are enough rounds (12) to really eek out the closer details instead of just 3 or 5. Cruz put it best in the post-fight analysis, the unified rules should be made or at least aided in their construction by former fighters and experts.

Jon Jones HIMSELF and many others said the two take downs won him the fight, but for two of three judges to give round two to Jones where he was clearly out boxed and didn’t have any take downs proves to me the judges can’t do their job

I legit didn’t know who was going to win at the end of the fifth. I thought it was a toss up between 1,2 for Reyes and 4,5 for Jones. Round 3 I had for Reyes but I can see why jones won that. Closest fight for Jones I’ve ever seen.

I thought it was the right call. Reyes probs had the better of it but, to me, the challenger has to convincingly beat the champ - not just win by 'opinion'. JJ can take a hit though!

In any case. If you consider both of the aforementioned fights to be de facto losses for the champions, the Jones already broke the record, just not against Reyes

The game was rigged when I see Rogan and Dominick commenting during the fight that was a close fight, and the judges could go either, that made my MMA sense spike, he knew they would give Jones a win , whatever the fight.

I agree to an extent but also it's part of their job to make the fights more entertaining and a big part of that is hiding their knowledge somewhat to make it more exciting for a wider audience. It would be boring if after the third round all they would say is 'well nothing matters now unless reyes gets knocked out because this fight is already decided'. Although if they had said that it could've caused a true riot after the decision lol

What I found weird is that Rogan normally speaks the truth about the fighting, this time he did not, neither did Dominick , and that it is a huge flag. I understand what you saying about being more exciting in the commenting, but, this time it was other thing. The game was rigged, was with Gustftersan, was with Santos, and now with Reyes. They just dont want to lose one of their stars.

Big Dawg i like jones im not salty at all but im v happy to admit that reyes easily won that and its laughable that a judge calls that 49 in favour of jon thats a robbery but in fairness to TG he says clearly he likes jones and that in terms of result maybe he didnt get it correct but in terms of how the fight planned out he was more accurate then 99% of people payed to judge and decide how a fights gonna go🤷🏻‍♂️you dont just predict the result of the fight or it would be a 30 second video and hes gotta get the money for over 10 mins + ads so congrats for paying him

I'm pretty sure the reason he does that is to sort of stuff the arm/shoulder the punch that he knows is coming from one side so he can less the impact. But when Geordie did it i couldn't help but laugh.

when I first watched the fight. I had it 3 -2 for jones, but definitely could've seen it go to reyes. but when you re watch the fight you can see that reyes really didnt connect as many times as I thought he did

Some people saying jones won because only he chased dominick. He pushed him back so he is dominant but if you can not hit, if you are not effective you cant win. Advancing should give you striking chance normally but only thing happened was reyes was countering jones first 3 rounds and first minutes of 4th round

Also, reyes did miss alot of his strikes and the numbers show jon was more accurate. That plays a factor. I also rewatched and reyes did miss jon at times I thought connected upon watching live.

I'm not at fighter so I find the commentary useful. I might miss a hook that someone slipped in but Cruz would say if it landed. Especially in the ground game when they can tell you what is the most dominant thing to do in a certain position

All this chat about "not leaving it in the hands of the judges" or "making it emphatic" is complete bullshit, when your fighting an apparently unbeatable, all time great, GOAT level fighter it is impossible enough to even scrape by them by leaving your soul in the Octagon, Reyes did that and won the first 3 rounds, he should not also be competing against incompetent judging or corrupt commissions.

Reyes won that fight by split decision in my opinion. That was bullshit. However Reyes certainly proved he is a fighter to watch for in the future. Quick, aggressive, pulls no punches, and was able to compete with arguably the best light heavyweight EVER. What an absolutely solid performance by Dominic last night. As for Jones, it's clear hes not as clean sweeping in this division as he was in the past, and hes certainly no longer in his prime.

I re watched without commentary and In my eyes the second round is the only debatable round and the deciding factors who wins but idk.....

Reyes is only 2 years younger than him 😂

Yeah, didn't Rogan say it was only his 14th professional fight? He's only had a few years of experience and took the GOAT (arguably) of LHW to a close decision

In my opinion Reyes won round four, he did damage to jones that round, whilst jones had to attempt to survive

Depending on what system you use to score a round: But in a 10 point must system it's hard to deny JJ won that round. And I don't even think he won the fight.

It was a really close fight. However, going into the 5 round it should have been 3-1 Reyes but the judges didn’t think so which is surprising. Thinking back to what Max Holloway said I think maybe they should tell the scores after each round but that’s a whole other conversation

Reyes didn't really land that much in the beginning of the round 2. he missed a lot and got blocked. don't judge a fight only by the fight stat they are not always 100% right.

The stats bear out that Jones had the more meaningful action in the fight. I don't know why people seem to think land 14 more punches at a 43% rate somehow is more impactful than 14 less punches but landing at a 62% rate. That means that Jones had better defense and offense. I think casual viewers just saw Reyes throwing punches in volume as him "winning." Was a close fight but Jones did enough to win.

Disagree was reyes first time in 5 round fight only thing that can happen reyes will improve from that. Jones struggle since a while thing will just go south for him

I felt like the third round is when Reyes dominates started to fall and Jon Jones was happy to give the first two rounds and just new what he had to win the last three but I felt like it could of gone either way

he was not so dominant in r3 but still he hit more strikes. They showed uppercut,highkick and body kick after third round. All of these were very clear and big shots. Jones chased him but if you dont hit clear and countered nearly always in round, you should not win for pushing your oppenant.

He ran away in the championship rounds, while jones was pressuring, Reyes done well but not enough to take the belt of the champion.

To be the champ you have to leave no doubt in anyone's mind that you won, either KO, TKO or dominant clear win in every round, and he didn't do that.
