It was confirmed palpatine was holding totem of undying when Rey sKYwAlkeR offed him.

Why can’t we just have directors that care about the projects they’re handed. I’m 100% sure this new director doesn’t actually care about Star Wars and it’s lore.

I think JJ Abrams and Rian Johnson did. care about their Projects... it's just that they maybe were not well suited for the work. You wouldn't hire Zack Snyder to continue a Wes Anderson film. They just don't match. You would hire him to do a companion piece to it maybe that is supposed to go into a completely different direction. The problem with many modern Franchises is that it's creators don't really understand the original works that created them. Star Wars has a lesser issue with this than Star Trek I think, but not all of the people working on Star Wars really understand the mythological inspirations, the Korusawa films, the tone poems and short films that inspired George Lucas, Eisenstein and more. Similarly none of the people working on Star Trek today seem to have a basic understanding of Asimov, Hornblower, science fiction literature or even science in general.

IF they don't care, then why should or would the Fans, or the audience?

Disney won't publicly admit it, but even they know it's the end-of-the-line for Disney Star Wars. The question is who can pickup the pieces, with Hollywoods rampant woke culture and a glut in great creative film makers.

Eagerly anticipating giving this movie a miss.

Disney is not ruining Star Wars; they have ALREADY ruined it, with the prequels, Solo, the Galactic Starcruiser, Lizzo in the Mandalorian… all thanks to Kathleen Kennedy, who couldn’t find her butt with two hands

Why do they give star wars to weird indie directors.

Judging by the surprising number of "Little Rey" videos here on KZread, where there are a number of little girls depicted as the surprisingly polarizing character, I doubt Disney will notice your missing box office dollars.

When the current appetite is clearly for non-Jedi stories from the Empire period between Episode III & IV - judging by the success of Rogue One & Andor - why would they invest in trying to push the dead horse that is the sequel trilogy?

Wouldn't it be great if 15 years later, In a galaxy far far away.... Rey self exiles herself to a deserted island and becomes addict to death sticks and a grumpy old Cooter that hates the Jedi and turns her back to all her friends! But low and behold a scrappy young wannabe Jedi turns her against Jar jar Abrams and Rian Johnson and goes on a action packed adventure where she hacks off the bad directors heads and balls, not necessarily in that order and finally everyone loves Rey for real this time and Luke's ghost comes and tells her it's cool to use his name now. Haha.....

And thank god more so into anime than most western entertainment. I enjoyed the clone wars, bad batch, vision, but that alone isn't really enough to really save star wars. I'm just happy Disney cant get their hands on gundam cause knowing them they'll toss most its content away only to rehash it later in my poor version.

Haha, you made me realise/realize the title is more grammatically acceptable in British English than American English. Had I known this I would have opted for the more universal 'is' instead. Oh well!

Let's see. ANH, was the classic. ESB is often called the best. ROTJ is a slight falloff, but still acceptable. TPM was fine. AOTC, eh. ROTS was arguably the best. TFA, TLJ, and TROS all f...king sucked! R 1 was good. The OBI WAN series sucked. The "Andor" series was good. But it failed because the reputation was too far gone. Now, Rey is back? Ah...ok. Duck and cover.

Female lead star wars is horrible.

I won't be seeing this Rey garbage. I'm a original trilogy fan, and a little of the prequels were ok, but the sequels were terrible garbage, and why would you re-visit the garbage dump? did you miss the smell? It will make a little money, but won't make the Billions It could.
