Jim, great video. I have used curves before, but this new tool allows so many fine adjustments. Thanks. John

You and ON1 make an awesome pair - ON1 creates very useful and intuitive tools and interfaces, and you make their purpose and use exceedingly clear and inviting! Thanks for this video :)

Thank you for this deep dive into curves in ON1 Jim. Although I sort of understood curves from watching your previous vides on the subject, I still was not a great user. However, what ON1 has done with this has made curves so much more friendly for me. Especially using the dropper and the way the colour curves are now displayed.

The BEST explanation of curves I've ever seen. Have used ON1 for many years and the grow/innovation is exponential with each iteration. These videos are most helpful. Keep up the good work.

WOW, the new curves tool is awesome. Great video, Jim! Lots of detail on how to use it. Thanks so much. ON1 is finally coming into it's own. If they would just add nested albums to their sync tool, I'd be sold. 🙂

Jim Nice presentation. I have always been flustered by the curves tool. I first encountered it in Photoshop and I took a course locally in using Photoshop and the instructor came at curves totally differently than you - and I have been trying to unlearn what he taught me ever since. His approach had you first use the bottom axis to eliminate the blacks and the blown out areas of the photo and then he went to the curves. He never really explained the color curves. Your approach seems clearer, although I do find it confusing in that you discuss specific areas of the photo, but in reality when you adjust the curve it adjusts all areas of the photo that contain that portion of the curve. This is probably the 4th time or so I have seen you describe Curves (previously in Luminar) and each time it gets a little clearer. It does appear to me that the new ON1 tools do help drive understanding as to what you are doing to a photo as you adjust the curves and I think it gives you more control to fix what you have already y done. I think this particular presentation did the best job of explaining why you would use the All and 3 color charts to reach your goal.

There is a Curves tool in Luminar Neo, in Develop. It just doesn't have all the same functionality as this version in On1.

You should be able to use 4 separate curves effects through the add effects option and to those same tone (all), red-cyan, blue-yellow, green-magenta, but in separate curves with different opacities so you can further fine tune things...

Thanks and yes you can reuse tools, apply masks to each, etc so it is very customizable in terms of how you edit. Thanks.

Beautifully presented! Thanks. How would the blend modes affect the outcome? And what about the effect of placement of the curves filter in the stack hierarchy?
