Every time I see her feet step over the threshold I start bawling my eyes out. The bravery of women who finally leave an abusive situation. The bravery of women who follow their heart when their heart leads them to women, which society doesn't approve of.

I recently found out that the ending is slightly different in the manga. In the anime, Anthy packs her suitcase and walks out in search of Utena. In the manga, Anthy starts wearing Utena's uniform to show that she can be her own prince. Both are good endings with a positive message but not sure which is my favorite.

@@kapu7064 I was only speculating what the ending of the manga meant. Yh it might sound "cringe" but the thought is in fact reality🤷‍♀️ (Also haven't read the manga myself but a few people who did filled me in on specific parts that differ from the series)

Ugh, and the fact that she calls her "Utena" with no suffix or title... -gagging on tears- why must this scene continue to abuse my heart even now. I will never recover, this scene always catches up to me and does it again. What a powerful ending.

ironic, isn't it? he manipulated Anthy for centuries making her to believe she can't live without him, while in reality HE couldn't live without Anthy. He needs her, but she doesn't need him. He's really that weakling.

I wondered what happened with Akio after this? Is he still trapped inside the Ohtori? Anyway, fuck him.

This is one of my favorite endings. Everyone overcame their problems and tought Utena was gone from their lives in the school, everyone has dealt with their problems with a positive outcome, overcame their grudges and comfronted their feelings, and pardoned the people around them so they can continue growing. Even if Utena is gone, everyone is starting to move forwards and soon everyone will "graduate". They are no longer stale with their old problems.

@@arottedfruit I don't want to make the long answer because got to dress, breakfast, feed the dog and leave in 15m but they basically earnt the courage to overcome their past and move on rather than having someone "rescue" them like a fairy tale. Look again the last episode. They end on a very positive note. "I can overcome" with their own stranght, hope n shit

That was just the best ending. Utena taught her that she was not a prince to miraculously save her, it was on Himemiya hands to move forward , but she would be waiting "outside" for her once she moved forward. Wow, answering an 8 years old comment, here I go.

チュチュのすべてを拒絶した後ろ姿とアンシーの「待っててね、ウテナ」 これだけでお腹いっぱいです。涙が止まりません。ありがとうございました。 すべての皆様に幸せが訪れますように。

アンシーの毒舌が痛快 兄から解放されてよかった

The last episode still makes me cry to this very day, I still think this is one of the best anime shows out there. I wish they released it in blue ray, or remade it, I don't know...

@@SirEriol Did the Nozomi Bluray replace the end credit sequence with a generic credit scroll like the DVDs? I got Nozomi's DVD version and that's what happened :-(. No more Anthy walking through the fields with the seasons passing, but they kept everything else thank goodness lol.

I saw this a long time ago... every day turns more hard to remember. I hope the message can survive beyond me, to give hope and spirit for next generations.

This anime was such a masterpiece i really dont understand why people don't like it and the ending was so meaningfull too... I cried, people really don't understand the beauty of this anime

エンディングで清々しく樹璃に向かっていく枝織の存在が、暁生を除いたアンシー以外の人たちにも ウテナ（というか決闘ゲーム）との戦いによって、多かれ少なかれ変化（革命）が起こされた事を示唆している気がする。 もしもアンシー以外がオールリセットされてたら、ここまで気持ちのいいエンディングにはならなかった気がする。

I hope this video stays on for as long as possible, forever even. With Nozomi's re-release of the DVDs, they cut out the end credit sequence with Anthy walking through the fields and the seasons passing, and replaced it with a generic credits scroll. Fewer and fewer people would know of the existence of the original if not for videos like yours and very few others which feature this original sequence. Thanks for uploading and keeping this in existence.

not sure but the mangaka made a sequal manga based on the series where it bassicly said Utena and Anthy both passed away and their spirits found each other, but that wasnt done by the same writer of the anime series so I like to imagine the offical art of them holding hands in the end is the canon one

自分は、ウテナ本人は知る事が出来なかったかもしれないけど、アンシーの内的革命を起こし、「永遠」から解き放つという目的を果たした為に、根室教授とは経緯は違えど「学園から卒業」したのかなと思ってます 再会して欲しいですね
