City Folk is the most underrated game in the series. In my opinion, it's better than Wild World (come at me, WW fanboys). Though I still don't think it's as good as New Leaf nor the original. Certainly is better than Happy Home Designer and amiibo Festival however.

***** I don't hate it and it looks good from what I've seen but I've never played it. I'm just sick of the Wild World fans hating on every other game in the series, especially City Folk. As TheBitBlock said in this video, Wild World had a ton of limitations that were removed in City Folk. I know Wild World was on a handheld but some of those 'limitations' (such as having no holidays) weren't necessary since the DS wasn't that limited. Heck, the game doesn't even begin with Rover asking you questions; instead it has Kapp'n ask you questions which is odd (and a lost opportunity that Rover would have been in the movie if he were to be at the beginning of Wild World since the movie was based of Wild World).

The Raccoon Figurine has big nads because in Japanese culture, Tanuki (like a raccoon, also called Raccoon Dog) have folklore of being "mystical" creatures of wealth. Bigger the nads, the wealthier. Having a statue of a Tanuki in your home, like the one in Animal Crossing, is said to welcome wealth. Should also be said that they actually have big packages in real life too, just there is folklore around it thus the figurine in the game.

The most annoying thing to me about City Folk was that you needed batteries in your Wii-Mote to play the game. If you had no batteries or empty batteries in your Wii-Mote then City Folk began unplayable.

It is the problem that I had in 2008 with City Folk (aka Let's Go To The City). I never got the game to work without the Wii-Mote (Why they couldn't re-use the GameCube controller then I don't know.) and that annoying batteries message (I tried buying various Wii Batteries Packs but they always seems to be too big for the Wii-Mote and would need a screwdriver) and it spoilt City Folk for me.

What people also forget is the original Animal Crossing, because Wild World changed stuff from that, and added it back in City Folk. For example, Kapp'n disappeared in Wild World after you arrived in town. In both GameCube and City Folk he transported you someplace, and had new dialog. You started each new day in Wild World in your attic, with a finger choosing who'd play. In GameCube and City Folk you had an animal (random villager in GameCube and Rover in City Folk) who'd ask who you were and if the day/time was correct. By the way, another big thing in Wild World- NO WISP! He returned in City Folk. For those who say it was hardware limitations for the DS, why then did the photos of the villagers not reappear in City Folk? Why was City Folk's house upgrades exactly the same as GameCube (larger first floor, upstairs, basement)? Face it, City Folk really did blend both GameCube and Wild World together, and it's abundantly clear to anyone who played the prior two games! Those who say City Folk is a port of Wild World clearly never played GameCube's, because there are numerous elements added to it from GameCube- Wisp, real world holidays, a calendar that stops in the 2030's, two tier towns, houses without side or back rooms, an item that indicates you've paid off your house (Wild World shows nothing when you pay off your house), Kapp'n travel dialog, and of course NO VILLAGER PICTURES! They removed those in City Folk, so that right there proves City Folk isn't a Wild World port otherwise they'd have kept villager pictures, and they didn't!

I still remember your late night town tour from years ago. This really brought back memories.

Little things like getting yelled at by mr resetti are things that in my opinion added more to the game, lol i love the consequences if you forget to save and i loved the mean villagers

My friend has City Folk and she is a 1 minute walk from my grandparents house so when I visit them (which is only a 40 minute drive away) we play City Folk for hourssss and then I showed her New Leaf and that was like.... mind-blowing. NEARLY 1 WEEK UNTIL ACNH AHHHHH

Don't bother getting a new or pre-owned! Just get either! It's, in my opinion, the best Animal Crossing game. I love all of them, besides Wild World, I thought it was the worst one. Not that it's a bad game, but the frame rate was horrendous.

YandereSimmer I was talking about Wild World. New Leaf is fine with its smooth frame rate. Wild World on the other hand...is horrendous with its frame rate. It changes every five seconds! It's not really worth buying Wild World for that reason only. But New Leaf! Best Animal Crossing.

I prefer City Folk to New Leaf, for me despite not being portable was the ultimate version of AC, they added a lot of tiny details although the game is technically behind for the time, but they perfected the original formula of doing a little bit everyday. With New Leaf they changed the tone and rhythm, first of all because you could always go to that God forsaken island to get the tropical fish and bugs to make hundreds of thousands of bells everyday, but the money was never enough! Also I don't like the white human supremacy of being the major in an all animal village, the original concept was inspired by the feeling of being the new guy, alone in a far away place
