Revision / Galvion Caiman Ballistic Helmet Review

There's next to no good information out there about the Revision (now Galvion) ballistic helmets, so I tried to address that.
BLUF: I really like this helmet, it's the most comfortable helmet I've worn (and I've worn almost all of them minus the MTEK Flux and the Ops Core FAST SF), it's very modular for what it is, and it's a shame this helmet isn't more widely available.

A great review of the helmet, I've only come across 1 other video review on YT about the caiman helmet (the bump version). I use the bump version for SAR work and the only thing I've had to do with it is remove the existing harness system and replace it with the TW system (a system I removed from my old battered helmet). They use the same hard shell liner as their bump helmet which is why the cut outs are there, but the foam liner is really comfortable, it's almost like they've taken the best parts from OPs-Core and TW and combined them to make this helmet.

I'd glad you had success swapping the chinstrap out! I was wondering about the TW ones (I have a spare CamFit, but no desire to install it). Agreed on the liner, they did the same thing OpsCore did when standardizing on the Lux Liner.

Nice Review sir! I just happened to get a recommendation & figured I'd see what you had to say about this bucket. Like you said there isn't much info out there. I picked up the Bump version a few months ago as a spare & haven't really done anything with it yet. I did not know the dial was so easily removable - gonna have to try that. I had been meaning to pick up a Team Wendy BOA chinstrap to replace the factory one with.

Hey bro, great job with the video. You explained everything extremely well and spoke without missing a beat. I’m surprised you don’t have significantly more subscribers and views. If this channel is some you’re looking to grow. KZread has a feature where you can pay an small amount and they will boost your video/channel in search results and browsing. I believe you need to get up to 1000 subscribers before you can monetize your account and start making money off the views. I doubt you needed that information. However, I wanted to feel important. Again, great tear down and explanation.

Great Video, thanks for posting. I just bought one myself ..was in between sizes so sized up to a large and added some of 4D padding to snug it up. Was wondering what ear pro you run underneath and how you find it comfortability wise?

LEO over here. I've been really going back and forth between the caimon and Fast SF from ops core. You made a great video, like you stated, there is practically no information on this helmet out there. You mentioned you would take this over the ops core, would you still choose it for for LEO type operations? (in and out of vehicles, warrants, etc)

Thank you! Honestly I'd be lying if I said I had any LEO experience, mine was all MIL, however I would take this over the FAST SF for any ballistic requirements which I'm familiar with. I spent a lot of time going in and out of vehicles and helos with armor, for what that's worth. I like the chinstrap (despite my issue with the buckles) and the suspension scalability, it's a lightweight helmet, and it rides comfortably. That said, I don't think you could go wrong either way and unless you need a rifle-resistant helmet like the FAST XR I think that both will do just fine.

Probably would work, not sure if the bolts are the right size though. The stock suspension was good enough that I didn't bother trying to swap it out. No idea on the Chinese stuff.

  • @gunsnchoses8309

Two reasons - mechanical failures and need/preference. I've had the Peltor arms pop loose during strings of fire (the worst was at a 240 range mid-burst). When I used to wear Peltors for comms there were times I wanted to have the ability to talk without a helmet on. I've just kept it that way because I don't want my ear pro tied to my helmet in case I want one or the other.

Thanks for doing a review on the helmet there really isn’t much information out there. I have a guy trying to sell me a used one for 1800, which seems steep. What would you be willing to pay for one on the used market?

  • @gunsnchoses8309

Honestly that's getting into new Ops Core SF money, at which point I'd just go that route. That said, supply and demand, so I dunno? I'd target 1200-1500 as a doable range for a used lid, but I'm also cheap.
