Reviewing your nature journal with Kate Rutter

This episode came out early for my Patreon members! Patreon.com/marleypeifer to join the community and support the show.
Have you ever nature journaled your nature journaling practice? That is exactly what Kate Rutter did with her nature journal review for 2023. She looked at all her pages from the previous year asking questions such as where she journaled most, what kinds of journaling she did, and how much she journaled each month. Some of her findings surprised her!

The person that coined the term "Nature Journal' is Claire Walker Leslie. I believe her first book was in 1978

Yes Claire has had a very influential role on John Muir Laws and subsequent teachers.

I suspect this is a very ignorant question, but do folks ever scan their nature journals? The in-person tactile aspects would be diminished, but the information in them would become more widely available. I'm in the process of figuring out archiving photos and documents of grandparents. So scanning stuff to organize it and make it available to others is on my mind.

This is a great question and an important topic! I have scanned a few but it seems like cameras have gotten to the point where my iphone photos of my journal pages can be just as good as a scan. So now I try to photograph all the pages of each completed journal.
