The framerate on PCSX2 on steam deck can be MASSIVELY improved by disabling the SMT

@@ProjectEdan also there is a fix for dolphin's bad frame pacing and lag. Set the refresh rate to 59hz On the emulator enable VI Skip In PowerTools disable the SMT and set the cores to 3. Then set the GPU clock to 1200, that fixed all the lag in demanding games such as f zero. Any stutter from there is just shader being compiled, hope this helps

I wonder if any of the frame drops will be fixed when SteamOS 3.5 releases. It resolves an issue in which threads were clearing their caches when the second thread on the core went to sleep, so they'd have to refetch from memory. That should make games run better with SMT on. Then again, supposedly emulators like Dolphin prefer SMT off regardless.. so maybe we'll just have to wait for emulator updates 🤷

Thanks for this, quite useful. Do you not notice a massive downgrade in aiming consistency with the Gamecube version? PS2 feels smooth for me, whereas GC feels like it's stepping between 2 axis constantly. This is the main reason I've dropped the idea of playing TS2 on Dolphin altogether.

TSFP runs nicely on my phone. How can Dolphin perform so badly in the vastly more powerful SteamDeck?
