This game deserves a remaster or re-release with achievements and trophies.

One of my favourites childhood games. Sat on the sofa for hours with my dad playing this.

My uncle died 2 months ago and when I used to visit him when he was in high school this is one of the games he played on his ps2 I don't plan on ever playing this game but glad to see people still remember it

Sorry to hear about your loss.

Best played on PCSX2 at 4K with a Dual Shock 4 using DS4Windows. Still an amazing game. Definitely a hidden gem as far as Marvel titles go. Blade II and Wolverines Revenge were also pretty good for their time.

@@zaphero5518 Good question. One reason for me, that stands out above all others, is that I use a Dual Shock 3 and having matching on-screen button prompts, really just sweetens the deal.

@@RetroGameRater I'd get you a video if I could but the emulator seems to have had some sort of change and the game now only runs at 60% speed.

While it’s not a direct tie-in to the film it does have a loose connection. Jigsaw in this game is supposed to John Travolta’s on-screen son that Frank kills with a bomb at the end of the movie but in this version he survives.

That coffin ambush looks really cool tbh. Also that shotgun sounds so much like the thrasher from gears of war. I’m gonna pick this up! Nice vid!

I remember playing this when I was younger, was fun for a while but I remember getting bored around a jungle level. Might give it another look though. Great coverage!

The action does get repetitive, I think the interrogation stuff really saves it from being a bland action game.

One thing many people miss is that there's an upgrade system. You can buy improvements in the menu with the scores you get. Killing people in interrogation takes away your scores. I think there was a skill to receive health for killing enemies - that would come in handy in the latter missions, which become a bit too tough, but I remember having wasted most of my points on other skills and being unable to purchase it. Anyway, if you didn't notice that feature, you might wanna check it out, it makes the game a bit more fun.

Im getting a ps2. Very excited.

Love this game. One of my all-time favorites. If only the story was a little better and the atmosphere a little thicker, I'd place it right next to Max Payne in my ranking. But even as it is, it's still an amazing game. I wish they rereleased it. The PC port at the time of its release was pretty poor. We could use a better port.

Better than the two Punisher films

Thanks for the video! Unfortunately i missed this back in the day but this seems pretty nice for a mid-2000s game. The interrigation stuff was new back then and today itvseems to be very common. It seems to ve made quite well in The Punisher. Still Rockstar made the best quick time things since you had to turn the analog stick instead of hitting buttons. Luckily, they brought it back in RDR 2. In addition, I personally like these action titles and I've found many good games from your channel. Such as Total Overdose. Keep on the good work. 😁

Great review, I missed out on this console generation until recently (got myself an OG Xbox), being a huge punisher fan, I go this game as soon as I could. Haven't found the time to play through it yet, but I will......I definitely like the look of it. I hear the Battlestar Galactica game is pretty good, maybe review that soon? Would be interested to hear your thoughts on it.

I just got an og xbox and got this game in a gamelot. Hell yeah this looks great.

Hmm this is a game I've always wanted to try but never got around to.

Still one of the best Marvel comics based games out there; alongside Incredible Hulk, Ultimate Spiderman, X-Men: Legends and X-Men: Rise Of Apocalypse. Speaking of which, PLEASE review those games.

@@majorgear1021 X-Men Legends 2 due to having more characters, features, etc. Plus, there's tons of mods for the PC version.

I was always interested in this because I really liked the Punisher as a character when I was younger. Not sure why I didn't pick it up... I shall have to get it soon.

I feel like it does a good job with the character so I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Good review! I played it not so long ago and I thought it was just average. The final boss is a bit of a pain in the ass and some parts of the jungle level, particularly the one where you shoot a sniper rifle while being carried on a platform sucked so bad.

Retro Game Rater, Review Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Jungle Storm for the PS2. Curious to see what you would think of it.

Damnable licensing rights. Wish the PC version was on GOG. I certainly would chuck a tenner or two at it.

Very fair review. I love this game, but strip away the torture and the license and it is quite average. However as a Punisher game, its brilliant.

It's worth a try. Hope you enjoy it if you do pick it up.

I'd rate it with 4 stars out of 5. Perfectly captures the comic book vibe and the Max Payne/Manhunt gameplay is solid.

Some parts of the game use parts from the film like the fight with the Russian in the apartment but that’s it really. Ngl though always loved this game but that’s because I’m a huge punisher fan so maybe I’m just an apologist for it 😂

As a punisher game it's pretty darn good to be fair.

The PC version by far superior solely for being able to uncensor it. Also given that the game, much like the film, is heavily based on the writings of Garth Ennis, the cameos from the other Marvel heroes kind of undermine the grounded story.

It would've been great to see them take another run at this and come back with an improved sequel.

Fun game but a disappointing ending. 90% of cliffhanger endings never get resolved including this one. The sequel-bait trope should’ve died a long time ago.

punisher has the same game mechanics from saints row

I didn't want to like this, given it was so insanely mean-spirited (I guess I'm one of those rare gamers that plays with a conscience :P). But what can I say? It was undeniably fun.
