Because of this video, I replaced all my scopes with red dots. They work great and love all the advantages mentioned in this video.

Just came across this video .. while looking for a Red dot for my shotgun.. with the red dot installed on the rifle .. how far can you shoot on a animal ?

@@justinl8455 I live in the northeast. Most shots are under 150 yards. But I’m comfortable taking even longer shots

The base for the red dot looks to be some sort of short, dove tail to pic rail adapter. Anyone have a source for this? @ 0:58

They're probably the Burris Sako/ Weaver adapters. They're held on the Sako dovetail by two screws that stop the adapter base from coming loose to the rear . Recoil will help keep them tight. I bought a set a few years ago but ended up selling them after getting rid of the rifle.

You say one of the drawbacks is that because it has no magnification it can't really be used for long range shots. What sort of range could you effectively kill a target? Could you shoot a sitting fallow in the head or neck at 100m? And could a magnifier be a valuable addition?

I shoot with both eyes open using my sightron 2.5-17.5x56
