I have a ‘23 1250GSA with 13,000 miles. This new bike makes me want to buy a second identical 2023 GSA to have a fresh one in 5 years when I ride mine into the dirt. 2023 will be a notable year in the GS/GSA history going forward.

I had to laugh at your comment because I too thought the same thing! Not only that I traded my new Harley for a GSA Trophy and now have that and a GSA Triple Black. I think the 1250 will be the last of the good ones and a real classic to hold on to.

After waiting well over a year for the 1300 to come out, I was somewhat disappointed. After sitting on one in the showroom I didn't even want a test ride. I've now bought a 1250GSA and picking it up on Saturday, just can't wait. I'm keeping my R1200c of course, will never part with that 😊

Your comparison has no value, you’re comparing to different bikes… What you said will be valid if you compered the 1250GSA with the 1300GSA that will come out next year. Looks like you went to tested a different bike than what you wanted to buy…. I own a GSA, I want to upgrade it to a newer GSA, why to compare it with a GS…. It’s like comparing a BMW X5 with a X3.

I hate the whistling screeching sound. Like the Honda Africa Twin. But this engine doesn't log as early as 1200 and 1250? Not being able to drive at 1500-2000rpm is pathetic to me.Thank you for daring to tell the truth. Few do today and everyone sells themselves for money.

Fine in theory and thought the same and bought a 2023 KTM1290SDGT which have been out as a model for a few years. It was a piece of unreliable crap and I sold it after 6 months. What is important is a responsible manufacturer with good service from dealers. I have your same reluctance so we will see.

Have to agree re the looks and the lower quality of the 1300 v the 1250. I went to look at the 1300 yesterday and was really disappointed. It just looks sad and bland. I’m sure it’s more than a capable bike and we will see a lot on the roads come spring time, but I do wonder how many will regret selling their 1250s. For now I won’t be selling my 1250 factory low as to me it does exactly what I want and looks/feels wonderful compared to this new 1300.

I have a GSA with 26K on it in 2 years. 23k with my wife on the back. I test rode the 1300 yesterday. Thought it was great from a performance and handling viewpoint. I have an s1000xr as well and this bike falls between the 1250 and it. Everyone says the engine is smooth, my impression was that my 1250 was an easier engine to manage, I found the 1300 a bit twitchy. I’m 6’3 and the bike felt fine to sit and ride but if you have a pillion you would need to try it out. The GSA has a wider pillion seat and more room behind the rider, plus the suspension is stiffer on the GS1300, it’s like riding the GSA in dynamic …… my wife loves the GSA because of the comfort on any road, and it’s a case of happy pillion happy rider.

Dont be discouraged, most of the reviews Ive seen are overwhelminly positive and not negatively biassed by its not a real gs thinking. Neither is the current 1250 if you compare it to the 3 generations of GS that preceded it. I just sold my 2022 1250GSA and did 30k in 18 months 6k with a pillion and awaiting my r1300gs. The 1250GSA was Best bike ive owned for cross use (Ive got a sports tourer and cruiser as well) but too bulky and hard to manouver in parking etc particulary with a pillion. You wont regret getting one if you set it up with the right options eg comfort seat and height adjustment if you need it. Oh and make sure your vario panniers are dent free as it makes a substantial difference to the bike (LOL)

I have a 1 year old gsa rallye my first gs i love it i test rode one same as that i found engine had a wiered tap also it felt cramped bars and dash felt tok close to me. Qs is nicer in low gears although a smooth shift from 1st to second and third by adjusting thrittle on the 1250 also i asked myself a few times "do i really need such a huge bike as my gsa" after testing the gs 1300 my answer is yes i found the 1300 really skinny around the tank area mine is way more beefy also the twats at rotherham vertu tried to say my bike has dropped nearly 6k in 1 year i will try the gsa when it arrives but my sweetheart stays for a min 3 years shes got a 3 year service inclusive on her which i got at my 6k service so i will be using that completely your 125 is a peach you could look at a late 1250 as there will be plenty of trade ins as the gullable sheep flock in for the latest and greatest with its extra 9bhp wow what a dissapointment

I have and had that opinion, I’ve decided that simply its a different Bike its not the 1200 or the 1250, it might have the same father but a different mother. It has grown on me and I will change but, I would say that is so different from the GSA that it’s not comparable. I keep getting told that the 1300 GSA will be so different it might upset the traditional but with anything change brings a different audience. I don’t speak for myself but motorcycling and manufacturing needs to appeal to a younger demographic to stay in business. What they need to make is a woke bike that only goes out in the warm and dry and covered in protection.

It depends. If you’re over 6 foot like me the older GS’s are great. I haven’t ridden one but I have sat on one in the dealers and it felt like a toy. Well compared with my GS Rallye anyway. I won’t be buying one especially at the price. I’d much rather have the Ducati V4 Multistrada if I were ever to change my GS which I’m not.
