    Something that bugs me about these online car reviews is that they dont take reliability into consideration. I trust a Honda product much more than a Hyundai or VW product.

  • @Ironfangzu

    @Ironfangzu

    Premium fuel is recommended but not mandatory. If you want to fly around and get the max acceleration out of your SI, put premium fuel in. If you are commuting to work and driving somewhat like a normal person, they say you can put regular gas in. And no, the SI could never do 0-60 in 5 seconds unless you did some aftermarket tuning. If you did that, under 5 seconds is easily reachable.

    Great car, stock suspension is perfect for the street, brakes are strong, transmission shifts crisp and smooth. The engine in stock form is frustrating, insane fuel economy, quiet, probably bulletproof, but it has the character of a dishwasher and some serious rev hang that dulls the driving experience. I'm sure with some tuning/exhaust and an upgraded clutch it would be much better. Overall it's much better than the numbers would suggest and I would recommend it to anyone who wants a refined/fun/economical/reliable daily driver.

    It's still a fantastic car, just needs a little tuning to be a great one. Couldn't help but notice the ST badge, I've had a Focus and Fiesta ST, great to drive but got rid of them after 2-3 years because the paint was bubbling on the door jam seams, hood, and hatch because it was RUSTING UNDERNEATH. Honda build quality is light years ahead of Ford and their resale value reflects that.

    Honda sent me the owners manual pages for this and it says "when CMBS activates, the engine may stop automatically. Start the engine by normal operation if the engine stops". So I don't think there's any clutch disengagement, and it just either stalls itself or it turns the engine off right before a stall. Again, this is assuming the driver is doing nothing and the car is trying to minimize a crash that is certain to happen.

    Matt is such a nice guy and it felt like he was really trying to be positive about this car but just couldn’t. It’s a good value proposition but there just seem to be a lot of disappointments. Honda’s 1.5T manual transmission cars (Accord and Civic) both have awful rev hang and I’m glad he immediately called Honda out on it. Also that engine sounds like garbage compared to Honda’s amazing sounding NA engines. My first car was an 08 Honda Fit, and even that 108 hp 1.5 L NA engine was extremely fun, responsive, and great sounding. The shifter on the Fit was also super satisfying. I've owned one for 2 weeks. For me personally, the final drive change gives more power and I don't mind losing the 2mpg. But then I bought the car to enjoy the driving experience. I LOVE the new amenities, especially the auto LED headlights and fog lights, and the changes to the 4 'black boxes" front and back with those body colored bars breaking up the contour of those ugly rectangles. So overall I love the exterior changes, except I wish they kept the old wheels. The blacked-out rims is not a great look for me. I might change them out for custom rims later. Value? It's a super enjoyable car to drive. I've owned $40k+ cars that were more luxurious but no where as much fun. Surprisingly great power, and that perfect transmission.
