Be prepared for the horrible rev hang, leaky valve cover gasket and it completely running out of breath after 5k rpm's, this I likely due to the tiny intercooler heat soaking after one pull, pathetic. My Focust ST's was just as bad. Other than that I like mine, 2020 black. Seriously, I just discovered today the valve cover gasket and it seems like it's common so look for it. Good luck with yours.

But I'm not the only one to see this if you look on the forums. I forgot to mention the weak clutches too, so if you plan on modifying make sure you budget in the $700+ for a new clutch.

ricky duran The oil dilution issue is still around, but it isn’t nearly bad as many make it out to be. Usually only occurs in extreme cold climates on cold starts. If you live in normal climates and change the oil a little earlier at 3,500-4k miles it’s likely to last as long as any other turbo engine.

Type R cons: stiffer suspension, higher maintenance, expensive tires, worse fuel consumption, so sunroof, no heated seats, no blind spot monitoring, no manual ebrake, fake exhaust cabin noise, a bit too flashy on the red accents. Type R pros: 306hp, 2.0L VTech turbo engine, made in UK, hatchback configuration, brembo 4 piston breaks in front, wide body kit with aero vents that actually work, extreme bucket seats for maximum body grip, quicker than the Si, auto rev match Si cons: tiny 1.5L turbo engine (non VTech), not much change in power since 2006 (embarrassing), no manual hand brake, no hatchback configuration, ugly chrome accents around doors, no auto rev match (if that's even an issue?) Si pros: much easier to live with as a daily driver, better fuel economy, similar fun to type R but a bit slower, nice bucket seats that aren't too in your face like the type R's, cheaper tires that wear less often, cheaper upkeep, heated front seats, sunroof, blindspot monitoring, weighs about 200lb less than a type R, costs $11k(US) less than type R That should sum up the most pros and cons. Either car is a great choice, but unless you have no budget limits, the Si would be a smarter choice if you mostly plan on daily driving it around city and traffic. Type R if you plan on more higher speed runs and need the convenience of a hatch trunk

96 to 01 civics are still worth a lot because people weren't really buying them before the tuner scene took over. Engines were easier to mod, the average knowledgeable teenager / young 20's guy/girl could maintain them and tune them themselves. Modern civic si won't be worth that. Never buy a car thinking it'll be worth money in the future.

Nowadays you can just get a hondata and flash a tune on it and instantly gain 50hp without any other modifications. Oil changes were easy as always, but that’s all I had to do since it’s a Honda. But I agree, never buy a car thinking it’ll be a good investment

I have one, I don't believe it's a future classic. It's a car that'll probably be thrashed and smashed once they drop below 5k to buy.. Mine cost me 20k and tho it is good fun it's not one I plan on keeping as there is several disappointing aspects to the car. One being how common they are. Mines a 2020 and there's 4 others within a mile of me and more when I head into town.. The older ones from 2017 to 19 are as common as dirt round here to. My advice if you really want the top spec civic is save yourself a few thousand and buy the 17 or 18 one.. The differences aren't that big. Performance wise they're identical. This will be my last Honda, I'm just using it for work now but my next car I'll be going back to German cars.

The civic has always been a sports car dressed up to be grandmas car. Ask Oscar Jackson. Go lay down.

Would of been better if they just put the 2.0 NA (non turbo) type r engine on the SI. This 1.5 doesn't even have vtec. With a factory turbo running 0 to 60 in 6 sec. Taking a page out of the fiesta st. You going to have to buy a turbo twice the size and it's not cheap to gain a significant power. You get what you pay for. This is a laughable sport car.

Car and Driver actually did a 0 to 60 around 6 seconds. VTEC isn't really needed or beneficial all that much in conjunction with a turbo. And as far as the CTR, even it only has one cam with VTEC.

I think it would have cost too much to detune the Type R engine and also they dont want it to be too close to the type R

You’ve never driven one, it’s easy to tell. Maybe you also never drove a 9th GEN either. Just like the type R they aren’t meant to kill it in a straight line. It’s made to corner 1G in the turns and be fun. For everything you get in a 20’ , full safety suite acc l, LKA, LW, FCW with stop, auto full LED HL, adaptive dampers, 450 watt system, actual mechanical limited slip(no bullshit electronic VAQ) , sunroof heated seats. Invoice is 24150. There’s not a better value in a car that offers all the same benefits and fun, 5 star safety for less.
