Back in my high school days I was one of the best modelers around. That’s been over 40 years ago and I’m just now getting back into the hobby. You are echelons above anything I ever could’ve dreamed of working on this body like you did I am just sitting here still in awe, 10 minutes after watching the video!!!

Fun build! My father bought a Firebird in 1970 in a brown, almost bronze. Six years later I learned to drive in this car! When I saw the paint, it looks a lot like Dads. It was a 350 cid with a 3 speed manual. You could have pulled stumps with that car, if it had real tires with grip! Great adventures in that car. Love your channel.

I love the color. I had a 76 and a 78 Firebird. Tore the 78 down to the shell and spent as much money as I could get my hands on to build it. My neighbor let me keep it and work on it in his pole barn and he knew this guy that used to be a big time drag racer. Larry was the guy and he had a building with more engines and part than I had ever seen before. So he must have liked that I was building the car as more of a road racing car and he sold me a Chevy 400 small block that he had. $500 for that motor and I'm telling you what after we got it installed about 3 days later I fired it up and that thing had a gigantic camshaft with lobe separation of about 106... lobe separation at 106 or 108 is that engine that chugs when it's idiling.... whump, whump, whump..... I had side pipes on it with these flow thru "mufflers" but it was still loud as hell. So I put a milk crate in the car and roll it out of the barn and let it warmup..... I then proceeded out onto the road (lived in country) and I brought it up to about 3500-4000 rpm and side stepped the clutch..... I almost wrecked it... scared the hell out of me.... So we weld the top back on and I put the 2 seats in it and drove it maroon body, yellow doors, primer top and quarter panels. That thing was "All go and no show". I beat some really beautiful cars with it and man it used to piss guys off. Most who knew about engines wouldn't touch me when I would be sitting at the light and its just shakin' and barely wanting to run..but when you stomped it and dropped the clutch it would just flat out scream... That 780cfm Holley double pumper would just "Howl" man I miss that car.... another family friend let me put it in his farm barn for the winter and the barn caught fire and that car was in the walkout side by the pastures and the whole barn fell into the "basement" of the barn.... It destroyed about $18k worth of parts and almost 2 years of smashed fingers. The roof actually was somewhat melted and all the glass was gone... the giant fiberglass cowl induction hood probably burned nice and hot killing that motor.... I sold the motor and the hotchkiss suspension parts that were still ok but that was a sad sad day.... All those bales of hay had to be a gigantic fireball. He was out of town and you can't see his place from the road so it probably burned for 2 or 3 days...I actually miss my 73 Cuda the most but that Firechicken could corner just as good as a Vette..... and it was really freakin scary.... It would always do this little power shimmy when I grabbed 2nd and sometime it would break the tires loose.... Good times Good times. Peace.... Sorry the post.. I hadn't thought about that car in probably 30 or so year....

I wish I could do the sanding, filing, scribing etc that you do in your body preparation. It really makes the models body look so much better but I always end up ruining the body and with the price of models now a days I just can’t afford to ruin a model body.

You make it look so straightforward and simplistic, I've been using an airbrush for the last 2 years and every time I use its like I've just started, I really struggle with primers, resulting now in using revell spray can as veliago has just been a disaster, too thin or clogged up in my reservoir.

  • @gertiblitz

There are better primers on the market than Vallejo, it's all up to personal preference. Mr. Hobby works good, but that needs to be thinned. There are also pre thinned primers on the market. Solvend based primers work for me, are better to be sanded.

Are there any channels where the cars are plastic revell, monograms, amt, and mpc model car kits where they're bought from eBay or yard sales and they completely overhaul the plastic model cars? There's a diecast model car channel but I'd rather watch plastic cars completely being rebuilt. I guess if one doesn't exist maybe I should start a channel. Oh and love videos man I'm looking forward to your new uploads. Stay golden pony boy!

When this kit came out originally it got the worst reviews in sae magazine. They called it the spam am because none of the parts matched up properly. It caused a lot of bad feelings between monogram and sae magazine and many arguments in sae articles. I bought on myself and had the same problems that was stated in the article. Lots of mold lines and front clip was way off from the body.its a shame revell never reissued this kit with a redone correct. BOdy because the rest is pretty good. They could easily do the same kit just different year Pontiac bodies
