    Neat build! I think you are one of the few who will show a picture of one of your previous builds of the same car and say, it no longer exists as built back then but was used for parts or literally rebuilt from the ground up again. Most modellers I've known don't re-use one of their own builds, let alone buy a glue bomb off Ebay and rebuild someone elses' build. Cool Daytona and love the colour scheme!

    Nice build. I had the same issues with the decals, although they didn’t crack, they came apart. I ended up using white decal stock and black letters, but the car is dark green, so it’s hard to tell. Best advice to anyone building this kit is throw the decals in the trash and go aftermarket. Sweet build, Raul.

    Outstanding..... I just viewed your episode of bare metal foil. ( I've done it once many many moons ago ) I'm doing a '64 Belvedere so I just wanted to refresh my memory and get some tips. Which I did and will use them. One thing I am beginning to use these days and will use on my upcoming foil project is the use of surgical blades. I've been building since I was 10 yrs. old and now in my late '50's, and even belonged to the Revell Master Modeler's Club in the '70's !! lol I use these surgical blades (affordable on Amazon etc.) exclusively on trimming decals and look forward to using them on my foil project. An X-acto blade is like a butter knife compared to these surgical blades!!! They are extremely sharp and require less pressure obviously....... just wanted to share that with your fan club. Thanks!!!!

    Turned out very nice. I always found moving the rear axle forward by shaving the front of the leaf springs about 1mm looked a little better and helped centre the rear wheels. Friend has a fullsize Superbird and says you can feel that rear wing start to apply downforce at about 80-85mph. Pity we live in the UK where the maximum speed limit is 70...

    Great build, you make me want to do a mopar. One point, the Daytona was built off the Charger 500, not the R/T. They did have the R/T interior package. The Charger 500 had the rear window plug installed at the factory. It was leaded in. The other company only installed bolt on parts. Perhaps I will build my 67 GTX, again, thanks for the inspiration.

  • @TheMuscleCarModeler

    Creative industries installed the plug. That was not done on the assembly line. Dodge took RTs off the assembly line and sent them to Creative Industries to do the conversions. They did the Charger 500s first then switched over to Daytonas.

    Ok so what is the best way to strip paint off plastic and resin. I have been using easy off for years.

  • @TheMuscleCarModeler

    @TheMuscleCarModeler

    3 жыл бұрын

    Easy off will work and is good if you just do one or two but it is expensive (5.99 a can here locally) in the long run. Plus I'm asthmatic and it drives me nuts. I prefer Super Clean ($9 here at Walmart for a gallon) A gallon will do many cars. Plastic I will let soak overnight. Resin just 1 hour and check and see if paint is coming off, scrub and repeat. I have had resin react to Super Clean but rarely and usually the white resin if it does. Wear gloves as it will pull the oil out of your skin! Here is a video I did. kzread.info/dash/bejne/eZuoxsqoocazfNo.html

    Just curious. Most of my knowledge I learned about Mopars are from years of meeting people, being in a Mopar club with members who actually work at a couple of the plants and a lot of reading. This video is on point about the Daytona too. I won't insult you but I am curious. Do you know why the Superbird and Daytona don't share a lot of the body parts? (I do).

  • @TheMuscleCarModeler

    @TheMuscleCarModeler

    I don’t know for sure but figured it was because they used different sheet metal with different dimensions and the spoiler was because the way the trunk opened up. Superbird trunk is longer so they angled it back more.

    @@TheMuscleCarModeler. The answer is really a simple one. Back when cars were produced with "badge loyalty", even companies within the parent company would make sure their cars were different from the other ones. (Pontiac/Chevy - Firebird/Camaro as an example). The most obvious reason the parts aren't interchangable is the model years: 19698 - 1970. Then the Dodge/Plymouth difference. What's interesting is even if the years are the same, the bodies are still slightly different. I found that out when testing a 1968 Charger body with a 1968 Road Runner front fender. EVERYTHING bolted up and the was only one area that didn't line up; the apex where the fender meets the door panel.
