In 1977, the trading Card Game Top Trumps was first released in the UK and had become a smash hit with those first decks featuring cars, motorbikes, tanks and planes.
Enter Jotastar, a rival company that had the smart idea of producing a game that would appeal to fans of Marvel UK comic books and after working with the team at Marvel UK, the 1977 Marvel UK Super Heroes Card Game was born.

These are new to me. Amazing to me now how kids/we would be entertained by such a straightforward card game. But in comparison to all the other card series I bought as a schoolboy (the annual Rugby League cards and series based on tv shows and movies), which had no playability but were simply meant to be swapped and collected, these Marvel cards are a step forward. And they sure are in glorious condition David.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts! Wow, it's really unusual to find something that you haven't seen before, so I'm certainly going to covet these and given the condition, considering getting some graded.

Thanks, yeah, I think these were hardly touched, so I 'm considering getting them grade either by PSA or CGC.
I had this set. Never agreed that Surfer could beat Galactus on special powers.
