Good Evenind David The Judge goes hunting! Well done on the retrievas.Charliedogg has already congratulated on the the Charltion hail. There is some great artist at work on those titles, I knew John Byrne cut his teeth on Charlton, but I had not realisedMike Zeck had got hois start there as well. And what a great collection those Still only 35 cents issues will make, and will keep you happyily on the hunt. It seems the show had some great titles available. Cheers Al The Goldkeyfourcolorkidownunda

Nice range of books David, and the Yarraville event reminds me of the dealers' rooms at the fondly remembered Sydney conventions organised by Kings Comics in the late 80s and the 90s. Good to see Charlton getting some time in the spotlight, while the company's was the epitome of cheapness (and not in the sense of costing little), they did have some fun supernatural titles in the 70s and notable superhero books in the 60s. Peter David's entire Hulk run is epic. So the big question: are you keeping the DC cards box as is or are you going to open it? Tough decision.

Thank you for your kind words Charlie youtube.com/@charliedogg7683! I'm glad you enjoyed the range of books and the event. Charlton and Peter David's run on Hulk (particularly the Todd McFarlane era) definitely have a special place in comic history and my collection. On the DC Cards box; I'm keeping it sealed as I have an almost complete set loose already; just hunting those holograms.

I spent some weeks in Sydney in 2021, and the lack of decent comic stores anywhere near the city was extremely dissapointing. I visited the only dedicated comic retailer I could find within the city limits, and it was entirely underwhelming. After a nearly 1hour drive to get there, I found a tiny store with mostly modern books. The majority of the stock were funko pops, games and other nonsense. I dug deep in the back area short boxes and found something totally unnexpected; a golden age original Matt Baker western with an old army circulation stamp. I shared my surprise with the store owner as I walked to the counter to pay for it, only to find they had absolutely no idea who Matt Baker was... Anyway, another great video here - thanks for sharing! I was expecting to see a lot more of those vintage Aussie reprints from the vendors but I guess they're not in demand?

The Sydney comics store scene in 2024 has not improved. 25 years ago Phantom Zone and Kings Comics had at least four stores each in Sydney, Newcastle and Wollongong. Now Phantom Zone is gone completely and there's only one Kings store, near the Town Hall, with no back issues older than from the 90s. Well done on the Matt Baker comic, and having the army stamp makes it historically interesting as well.

@@technoviking4131 No, although there seems to be a dedicated group of Aussie Silver Age reprint fans because I see these comics sell quite regularly on Ebay. Perhaps the Golden Age reprints simply haven't survived in big numbers, and for those who want to read the originals, they can get them in modern reprint collections on quality paper and vibrant modern colours.
