Glad to see the Kunai 3 itself works on the ROG Phone 7. I see you're using the bumper case from the ROG Phone 6 release. Do you know if that case is the same one they used for the ROG Phone 5? I got my Kunai 3 with the ROG Phone 5 as a launch gift, but I see one comment here saying theirs didn't work on the ROG Phone 7. If the bumper case is the same, I imagine it should work, but I was just wondering if you knew for sure.

Should I use the screen protector they include inside or I should just get a better gaming screen protector?

many gaming brands for mobile gaming is releasing lesser accessories than the previous generations. Black Shark and ROG is the examples. Black Shark released a pair of controllers for their phone 2, but only 1 controller for (left-hand side) their phone 3 ??! then not anymore ??! However, it is good to hear that the accessories of Black Shark is fully compatible for all the generations. For ROG, there is a accessories called the "TwinView Dock 3" (for ROG phone 3), that gear impressed me, but ROG did not release any similar gears for the newer phone generations, but they released the ROG "Ally". However, although that is really cool that it can play pc games just like a steam deck, a new "TwinView Dock" for newer ROG phone or even compatible for all the android phone might be the best option for us the gamer and them the businessman

Kunai 3 on Rog7 all buttons and all functions should be fine right as mentioned some quirks

Yes and no. You can use both accessories at the same time - just be careful of the ROG Phone 7's camera bump and the case.

I love the rog phone accessories and for this year im ok with the choice for less accessories "less is more" they say, but i always wonder what egosystem the rog phone fall under is it for the asus zenbooks or is it for the strix and zephyrus? Im planning to buy a laptop with the rog phone..😅

I think it would be the strix. I own a rog phone 5 have owned a Rog phone 2 and may buy th new rog phone btw. So I love the phone. However for my laptops I prefer victus and omen (more specifically victus).

Highly recommend the Xbox controller.

The fact that asus does not even sell a case-only to support their previously bought kunai 3. Its like "oh you previously bought kunai 3 that only has the case for your older model of ROG phones?" And then decides to give you a middle finger.

I have tried to connect the gamepad with rog7 through the rog 5 kunai bumper, there is no any response for the gamepad, i think the wiring in rog5 bumper is different from that of rog6

It pisses me off to no end for the fact that Asus has released the every ROG phone with the Kunai until this one. The ROG phone seven ultimate is the first Asus‘s phones I’ve ever gotten, and I mainly got it because of the controller Nintendo Switch like attachment. It intrigued me so that’s why I bought it assuming that they were going to come out with the with the ROG phone seven and now that they haven’t or are not going to. I have buyers remorse.

Anyone found a good controller for rog phone 7 ultimate yet? A clip-on one?

Only the Kunai, unfortunately. The ROG Phone's USB-C port is offset to the side and the clip on controller's port is at the middle.

Can we pair the twinview dock 3 with both? Like with a dungle?

I know the camera size is changed, so that the rog 5 kunai bumper doesn't fit for ROG 7, but i have still tried today. The gamepad have no response even the usb c port is connected properly, is the wiring in rog5 bumper different from that of rog6? Can NL Tech try it for me, thank you

This concerns me a bit too. Because I also have the Kunai 3 from when I bought the ROG Phone 5. It's the same Kunai 3 that's been out for a while, but my bumper case is for the ROG Phone 5. Theoretically, if it's all plugging in correctly, it should work (just like in the video) since only the bumper case might be different, and it's using a standard USB-C protocol (as far as I know). But I don't know if it's different enough to make it actually not work on the ROG Phone 7.

What about the desktop dock? Does that work on the 7? I want to hook it up to keyboard, mouse and monitor

it's a nightmare. They changed the shape of the camera and only for it was not possible to use old old accessories. I will not change my rog 6 only because I love kunai 3.

Nope. You'll need the cooler to have direct contact with the phone so no, that back part will be completely exposed.

Thanks for the info. That's why I came to this video. I love it for playing DS games on my ROG3 so not gonna upgrade if it doesn't work on the newer ones. My Rog3 still goes brrr no problem.

Nope lol. The ROG Phone series has an offset USB port at the bottom, so the GameSir X3 will not fit properly. Yeah, the aeroactive cooler case that is made for the cooler. The devilcase does not support the cooler.

(Edit: answer in the comments) I have an ROG Phone 5, and the Kunai 3 for the Phone 5, but now the Kunai has a busted button. The Kunai 3 for the ROG Phone 6 is still available in lots of stores, but the one for the ROG Phone 5 isn't. Is the Kunai 3 for the ROG Phone 6 also compatible with the ROG Phone 5?

So, for everyone with the same question: I just bought the Kunai 3 for the ROG Phone 6, and used it on my ROG Phone 5. The phone case does fit, but it's really tight. Not bad actually, it prevents the phone from falling out I suppose. According to Asus customer service, there's a 0.4 mm size difference, which is why they say it isn't compatible. Well, it is. Tested it myself, and it works perfectly. The other way around, the phone case for the ROG Phone 5 that comes with the Kunai 3 won't fit as well on the ROG Phone 6 because that phone has a bigger camera, so the cutout in the case is too small.

Question. I bought ROG Phone 7. The Regular one NOT the Ultimate one. And apparently I am having a hard time to find the cooler for this Phone. Apparently on every ROG store I asked in my country I asked if they have a cooler for this phone. Apparently don't have it. The cooler they have is for the Ultimate(BUNDLED) one because the reason why the AeroActive Cooler 7 is only compatible to Ultimate is because it has a different body shape compare to the regular 7. After I saw this video right now. I AM SURPRISED that AeroActive Cooler 6 works well on Regular 7. Though is there Alternative Cooler for Regular 7 besides AeroActive Cooler 6? Or This just it?

TBH you don't need a cooler for the phone. If you do want to buy one, then go for the AeroActive Cooler 6 or 7 - they work fine. All accessories that work on the ROG Phone 7 Ultimate also works on the non-ultimate version.

Sounds like if you want to use your old accessories, you just sand down or outright cut that piece under the camera and save $250+
