Hey, this was a really useful video for the achievement a certain look I want for my game. So thanks a lot. I'll tinker with the shader for sure. I was thinking about animating the UV coordinates on some of those textures just to see how it looks.

Thanks for this. Just starting Unreal and am having troubles with shaders. I can't get this to work properly yet but i'll try to follow along more closely my next watch.

Actually I have a bit of a challenge for you, maybe you can stand up to that, until now I am convinced you can! Take a look at the style of this guy right here: www.youtube.com/@t3ssel8r They created an incredible Pixel Art Shader which I have never ever seen in my entire life. Not in Unreal, not in Unity, not in Godot. It is peak performance of pixel art. Maybe you have a clue how to get this to Unreal, fingers crossed!

I don't know what I did wrong. When I create a Material Instance so that the changes gets reflected in the viewport, only DitherValue and Param are there, and ColorDepth and DitherContrast aren't in the list to toggle and tweak their sliders 😭

this is really helpful!, though i have a problem, the edges of the screen get a weird effect, where the get extra pixelated, and the results are not the same, i did the + and square texture the same as you said, though when i apply the textures with the last if, i don't get the same results

maybe it's an issue with the vignette effect that unreal has on by default

Thanks so much for this, looks awesome in engine. Im just wondering how did you get it to update live for you at the end of the video? I always have to save/apply the Dither Material for my changes to show up.

I've the same problem. Did you manage to solve this? No matter how I adjust the parameters of the material, the changes don't reflect on the viewport of the game 🤔

Do the dithering images have to be 100x100?

do you know why the ground is black? I'm at 11:05 right now and my dither effect makes the ground black

Thanks I'm making a game where you crash on an alien planet and you need to take pictures of animals and plants to sell and save up for a new ship! (it isn't the best looking but this just makes it 10x better) my brother says I'm copying lethal company

Hey I was just wondering does this speed up your FPS by doing a faux pixelation like this?

Definitely not as it is actually more effort for your rendering device

Great tutorial man, but, I mean, for real, why not share the Bit Depth Forms for your viewers as a link? You're already sharing the information for free for promote yourself, why not create a community or maybe grow your subscribers? I'm writing this because it is pretty much counterwork, in the middle of the tutorial, to draw gray squares in 100x100 canvas. I don't know, but here is my poop comment for you.

So you're telling me you're complaining about taking 5 minutes - 10 minutes at most to make a couple PNGs? Are you this lazy? This man already took some time to teach you something invaluable, that you wouldn't have even think about if it wasn't existing, and you're telling me you're bitching about him not providing a couple pngs that you can make in a couple minutes? You lazy aah disgraceful little thing - 'boohoo i need to pause the tutorial for 5 minutes to draw 4 pngs, I shouldn't have to do that this is so counterproductive man you don't understand, you should provide all the necessary files, even just give the project files ready to go packed in an .exe or .bat file that compiles and launches the project in one click'. You don't deserve the knowledge dude.
