Retro Dailys EP2 V8 Capri

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

On this episode of Retro Dailys we take a look at Jays Ford Capri that has a slight difference. It has a walking great V8 under the bonnet. We go out for a drive and discuss what it is like to drive this beast every day.
Retro Dailys is a show designed as a love letter to the crazy individuals who drive a pre millennia car as their daily. This episode is a great start.

Mustang engine looks right home 🏡 👌 in the green engine bay. Started wondering about what axles may substitute the existing rear axle. Can't remember Capri axle, either leaf or trailing arm. If trailing arm like Mk3 Cortina, could use TC ( aussie Cortina mk3 ) that used the large 6 cylinder engines 200ci ( 3300cc) or its larger sibling 250ci ( 4100cc). Stopping short of the above, could use Chevrolet ( Can Am ) Firenza from South Africa's trailing arm axle that uses the V8 from the Z28 Camaro. Look forward to your future deliberations. Greetings from New Zealand 🇳🇿 😀 ❤

Underbody wise Mk1 Capri is quite closely related to the Mk2 Cortina but isn't the same by any stretch but then all of the RWD Fords from the era are closely related. I know this is intentionally an anti project but there is sound reasoning behind suspension & brakes before powertrain but each to their own I suppose, as long as it's nowhere near me anyway! Thanks for sharing.

I hate to be 'that guy' but come on, v8 engine and 1.6 brakes? Also, wasn't there a V8 Capri available in South Africa?

A modified car is 'never' finished but just a work in progress. It's also interesting to note that a modified car is rarely the complete package. A powerful car is not necessarily a fast car.

Apparently Ford thought that the car needed an engine able to cope with the high ambient temperatures?
