    In 10 years I have never seen another flight attendant fill a water bottle with water from a tap and tipping is just fine if we are making a lot of drinks for you, you received some help beyond the normal scope of our duties(lifting your bags, watching your kids, cleaning up your vomit...)or if you just like us. Simple tips: Know what you want to drink including how you take your coffee before the cart gets to you(especially on short flights). Buy some inexpensive earbuds and keep them in your luggage or purse-we don't want to charge you for our terrible ones, so don't make us. Pee and poop in the airport terminal before you get on the plane. If you want more snacks than we hand you, just say so. Unless you work with children, no one grabs or pokes you at work when they want your attention-so don't do it to us. Use your words, raise a hand or both.

    What about air quality!? Do they filter/clean the air that is recirculated?

  • @smokybirch6626

    @smokybirch6626

    7 жыл бұрын

    The air coming from the AC vents is a mix of recirculated and fresh air drawn in from the engines. The air in the cabin is exchanged several times per hour (some documents say 20-30 times per hour). Recirculated air is generally filtered through a HEPA filter. Here's a short write-up from the World Health Organization about it: www.who.int/ith/mode_of_travel/tcd_aircraft/en/

    The flight staff doesn't get paid until the doors close. That explains a lot! Sometimes they shut the door and then go sit on the tarmac for ever!

  • @ThuNguyen-um5qq

    @ThuNguyen-um5qq

    Flight attendant can’t decide when to close the door. That’s gate agents and operation’s decision. So the idea of they want to close the door and sit there waiting to get paid is not true. Plus, they probably don’t want to be stuck inside a plane full of angry people if the plane doesn’t get going...

    Flightattendants in shitty companies like Ryanair don't get paid before the aircraft is airborn.. While in good companies like most other European ones they get a fixed salary + comp for nights and weekends. Not getting paid before the door close is just horrible also.

  • @LindsayKipka

    Most US airline in flight employees get paid from door close to door open plus a small per diem (it doesn't amount to much even though it's supposed to help with meals and such). They are not paid if your flight is delayed and they are forced to sit for hours, technically on duty. The whole pay system for airline employees needs a major overhaul. It's horrible.

  • @Jez2008UK

  • @LindsayKipka

    If a flight crew has to sit in the airport while waiting for a delayed flight or has to sit at the gate with the door open (which in my husband's company happens a good amount of the time)they are not getting paid. They may be doing work, helping passengers figure out other routes that get them to their destination on time, or serving beverages or snacks, they are not getting paid. You would be amazed at the amount of time Flight Attendants and Pilots are actually working without being paid. All of the preboarding stuff (including all safety checks of the aircraft) are not paid. The airline industry as a whole needs a big overhaul with the pay. It looks like they get paid alot (by hour) but when you figure they are in the airports and on planes 10 hours a day and only being paid for 4 or 5 hours of it- that is wrong. They are paid a per diem amount to offset the cost of food and such. My husband's company per diem is not enough to pay for it (or even close) so I send him to work with homemade meals I freeze. He can only take so many though because they won't stay frozen for 6 days (which is how long he is gone at a time). The airlines are pretty corrupt.

    Lindsay Kipka Wow - I am so sorry to hear about this - this needs to be made public, as I'm sure I'm in the majority of people who are simply ignorant about this method of payment. To be honest, I don't even know what Per Diem means. I'll have to look it up.

    Flight crew don't get paid until the doors are closed cross checked and armed, so check in, meet at greet at the gate, the walk down the air bridge to the aircraft, getting the cabin ready for clients is all off the clock. This lady is 20 years service conservative estimates of 10 hours a week of off clock time before doors closed over 20 years 9600 hours of unpaid work @ $21 to $28 USD an hour that's around $240,300 that's a lot of unpaid work.

    Do you live under a rock and never left the county/city where you were born? Riight...like the US would be the only nation with aroused fliers wanting to get it on -- gee, what about nationalities such as Canada, Australia, Japan, Brazil, and any European nation?

    Pfft. IDIOT! It happens on European Airlines ALL the time. South American countries have airlines too and of COURSE they do this as well. Airlines of Africa, and islands (caribean and others), Austrailia, New Zealand the more I type and know it happens the more stupid I find you! I understand POSSIBLY Emirates, or at least certain cultures that fly on Emirates, but ALL nationalities, races and cultures fly on them (and even work on them - [pilots and Flight attendants..and YES they do things on the plane too. Lots of places on the huge aircrafts] so I highly doubt that it wouldn't happen on Emirates at all. How about stop and think a little bit before posting such a moronic statement.

    Industry Secrets? How stupid. I was a Flight Attendant for over 20 years and I have witnessed so much drama among Flight Attendants and also the supervisors and some pilots at United which would blow your mind. Dont' do anything crazy in the bathroom? Is this a children's show??? I am sure at her airline she saw lots of gossip, drama and cat fights between air waiters and waitresses that she could have talked about. Perhaps they should have shown a tape of the crew rest area on the 747 on United where they squeeze in two extra sleeping area in between 6, so the crew can have two breaks instead of three so they can sleep for 5 hours during the flight and leave the cabin empty, a recipe for disaster! They should interview me... but I am sure airlines do not want the truth to come out...

    Yes, and no. The air is recirculated like in a building, but also like in a building they introduce outside air in a set percentage of volume per hour. That's an obvious requirement or everyone would suffocate.
