When someone constantly peppers their speech with "frankly" and "believe me", it is the sure sign of a liar. There is this guy I see on TV all the time who does this. He also wears this weird orange face paint and has his hair done like a whispy bird's nest. I forgot what he sells, but I can't believe there are people out there who buy it.

I was like 17-18 at the time, and because I wasn't 21 I needed a parent to come too. Well, it was a scam for time sharing! They pulled the exact same scam that these people did. They wouldn’t let us leave. Moved from room to room and different salesperson trying to push us to sign. Two and a half hours later my wife was mad at me for setting it up! We left totally mad! My grandmother got 1 of those type mailers in early 80s. If we would come listen to their sales pitch to purchase land we would receive a choice of 3 items. She chose the refrigerator, which my grandmother thought they would deliver it. So imagine our surprise and anger when the salesman brought out an igloo with a car cigarette lighter plug-in. Kid you not. She was so furious, that she said she was not going to talk with her bank about purchasing the property. Wasted over 4 hours and we left without taking the refrigerator. LOL

Lauren Harman actually we got a $100 gift card to a fancy restaurant and the reason we went. But their main gift was a cruise vacation we never took because of all the added costs. And on top of paying for the free cruise, they tack an inflated value to it which if we took it we have to claim on taxes at their stated value. It ended up being too complicated and we left it alone.

At the 2nd, I got 2 free nights at the Loon Mountain resort in our mtns (in NH) which was awesome. The 3rd, I got dumb airline tickets I could never use just like this video shows. The key is to hold strong and stick by your "no". They'll all get pissed at you and send 8 salesmen but just keep saying "no", get your free gifts then leave.

I said get me TF out of here NOW. And she did. We did follow the instructions to receive our discounted activity package. We went parasailing, snorkeling, and on a sunset catamaran cruise across 3 days all for $120. We never would have done those activities on our own, so I guess everything happens for a reason!

From a salesman with 30 years experience in a variety of fields, time share and vacation salespeople were looked down on by the rest of us. They tended to be the scum of the sales business. Many had criminal backgrounds because they do no background checks. Hell, they preferred someone with a little criminal attitude. I know, I interviewed with a few when I was young and inexperienced. Anyone who calls you or mails or e-mails you you should be ignored period. There are too many scams to go over here. Anyone who asks you for up front money should be ignored. Walk away. I interviewed with a company who gave a slick presentation and then told people it costs $1500 to sign up. No one had ever heard of this company before this night and I was amazed how many people signed up. But there is sometimes justice, although severe is this case. 2 weeks after that night the 4 men who gave the presentation were killed in an elevator in their office building. True story. We figured someone found out they were scammed and took their own action. As long as there are people looking for an easy way to satisfy their greed or necessity, these folks will be around.

My husband used to work in Maintenance for Westgate Resorts about 7 or 8 years ago and Westgate's sales team did their "90 minute presentation" in the dining room (near the maintenance shop entrance), so he would hear their pitches all the time. It was actually about a FOUR HOUR "presentation" and a HARD pitch. My husband said some of the sales people would flat-out tell people that they didn't love their spouse if they didn't buy a timeshare, or tell kids that their parents didn't love them because they wouldn't buy, or call people cheap welfare trash and other stuff like that. (And timeshares are such B.S. anyway...you buy a slot of time, not a specific room at a specific resort, and people just didn't seem to grasp that concept - they'd come back for their ROOM during the middle of the summer, freaking out because they are an "OWNER" and finally end up having the contract details pointed out. It's such a scam, scam, scam.
