Difference is that Owen went to ManUtd at a time where they were top 3 clubs in the world. Right now ManUtd are arguably not even top 10. Owen to United was kind of the same as RvP going to United. Left to join a bigger club at that point of time. Trent joining United now would be a downgrade for him.

Golden Generation perhaps for different positions. In terms of Defenders and Attackers, right now is England’s golden generation.
