Despite the fact that this wouldn't turn on and a button didn't work, this was in surprisingly good condition for its age. Whoever originally owned this obviously really loved it and took good care of it until it stopped working.

Its interesting seeing this video, having a gameboy of this model from when I was a kid, and thinking "damn that one looks like it's in rough shape" when i compare it to mine, only to see people praising how good condition it is. Makes me feel good that I have cared for the condition of my games and systems for this long tbh. Just regret selling every single video game I sold to pay for other games. Lots of stuff I used to have but dont anymore that I regret getting rid of

@@dafffodil I still have a lot of my old Nintendo consoles and games growing up, all in good condition. I became quite the game collector over the years, despite the fact some games have cost a pretty penny lol.

I used his PS2 video to clean and take apart my sister's console. It looks and runs great now!
The thing I love about Oddtinkering is it doesn’t look staged, he restores stuff that looks like he picks up at garage sales. Keep up the good work!
I love this Edition of the GameBoy Color. My wife bought me one from ebay for Christmas '22 because I was so sad about that I had to sold my old one because we hand not so much money a few years ago. Now it's displayed next to me on my desk

Just a little thing, but I love how you have a tool for everything, and everything has a tool! From peeling the stickers to stirring the water, it gives me immense satisfaction!
Ugh that sound of Pokemon yellow once it boots up is so nostalgic ❤
These videos give me such comfort, knowing there is someone out there restoring history, one piece at a time. ^\\\\^

i love watching this guy restore things, not only does it feel like a operation the things he restores always look brand new when he's done
While watching this, I was wondering. Do you ever fail to fix something? If so, how often does it happen and would you ever share a video of a failed attempt
@perrycoffey5410

I do once in a blue moon
@OddTinkering

Failures absolutely sometimes happen, especially electronic can simply not be fixable without taking the part from a different device and sometimes it can be hard or impossible to find replacement, let alone make new part, but it doesn't happen very often when I film. I do often have a fairly good idea if the item is fixable. And most problems with electronics can be fixed with a enough effort unless you need to start manufacturing your own chips or screens or other complicated parts. I probably wouldn't post a regular full video of failed attempt on this channel, if I start doing shorts or tiktok or similar content in the future, I could share failures in those if I get around to posting short videos too

Yep. Same. The battery still holds a charge, too. I still play Pokémon Leaf Green from time to time.
I was just thinking the other day that I hadn't seen an Odd Tinkering video in a while. Glad to see the new video.
This is some quality OT content-- the game in the sock, tapping out "Shave and a Haircut", Finland's favorite IPA, the Ducktor, the LOTR reference, the list goes on! Great stuff Odd, always love your videos ❤
This channel is such a wonderful experience. Thank you for bringing years of life back to that old Game Boy. You deserve all the love! ❤
Now all you need is a pair of the old GameBoy ear phones.. Great video. Brings back a lot of memories.. Love Pokemon stuff
Beautiful job! I love all of Odd Tinkering's videos!
Man i love your videos, it's always so satisfying to see the thing work in the end
Damn, this channel delivers again, I actually attempted to restore a Gameboy Pocket because of you lmao. Quick question: what polish did you use for the screen? I want to try that for restoring a lens on one repair I am doing.
@Stray_Spectre

Replying in hopes it pushes your comment to be seen. I also want to know what kind of polish that was. I tried some Mother's wheel polish on mine because it worked great on my watch crystal, but it kind of fogged my GBC screen.

I love watching your videos. They are so relaxing to watch and I learn a lot!
I LOVE your videos!! I use them to relax and sleep to so when they come out I get more happy than any asmr video has ever made me 🫶
Yay, new Odd Tinkering vid. Let me grab some popcorn! GBC is my favourite handheld, I have four of them. Good to see one getting a new life
I was a huge fan of Pokemon as a kid, still am in my 30's lmao. I had one of these growing up, and still have it in good condition. I'm a huge game collector you see, and have various old Nintendo consoles that still work and play games.
Hi. I love your videos. You've inspired me to attempt to restore and repair electronics for a living after watching for the last 3 years. Thank you.
I just love watching your stuff. It's so cool to see restoration of things from my childhood!
Omg, my childhood, the nostalgia. Welcome back Odd. Always happy to watch you bring stuff back to life.
These videos are so relaxing and therapeutic to watch.
This was so awesome and relaxing to watch! Thanks for posting.
yay youre back! been waiting for a new handheld restoration!
Your video on restoring an sp inspired me to restore mine ive had for 17 years 🤟🏻
Thank you for videos like this, Mr. Tinkerer. Your videos made me give restoring a try, thank you for being so detailed 😊
I honestly think this is my favorite KZread channel. I love seeing old things get another lease on life.
This is ooo satisfying! right into the nostalgy. Please upload more often! I love your videos!
Thank you bro. You got me into restoration projects😀 great to see your still uploading
Glad to see more uploads from you, OT!
You are truly an inspiration. For both who want to restore things, and for those who want to copy your content and fake it
I love your videos, they are the best background videos to play while working
Another great restoration. Awesome works👍🏻
oh man i had one of these limited gameboys but i lost it ages ago and never found it. this video was satisfying to watch restore one
Amazing as always 🙌🏻 Pokémon forever
I love the fact that you still make the Gameboy dance every time the intro music plays.
Love this, and it's because of your other GBC video I was confident in repairing and then upgrading my old Gameboy. Thank you!
I still have that gameboy with pokemon gold since childhood and of course still works. Wonderful video.
Great work as always glad to see you put up a new video
Got this for Christmas along with Pokemon Yellow in 1999. Great to see one getting restored
This man has once again saved the classics. ❤
I knew it! I had this Game boy as a kid! It was thoroughly loved! 🧡
Odd Tinkering you have been missed! Been waiting for you to drop a video
A great restoration and video as always but I somehow knew he'd replace that sticker. To me, there's nothing wrong with having the original stickers be a little worn/dirty. I think it adds to the character and history of the device. Also, I still saw a bit of dirt on the shell during reassembly. If you just leave the plastic pieces soaking in the hot, soapy water for a while before cleaning, it makes all the difference.
Awesome restoration. Two thumbs way up 👍👍
Yaaaaaayyyyyy!! I’m glad you’re okay! Thank you for uploading!
I recently got into restoring and modding Game Boys and I think I have watching your channel so much to blame. Thanks! 😀
Thank you for restoring the best part of my childhood🙏👍👍
I’d love to know where you find these pieces of my childhood… Awesome job from you and the Ducktor!!! ❤️❤️❤️👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Amazing work - thank you as always
I love when the screwdriver set flips open.
Now this is the actual restoration channel.
awww yeah a new Odd Tinkering video. Really enjoy these but would like to see what you could do with a guitar, bicycle, vintage toaster, or even a cb radio. Please keep making new stuff.
Love your content!!
These videos are a perfect accompaniment for my evening dinner!
I wish I had a repair guy like you around dude, I've got so many old consoles that still work (aside from my Wii which sadly no longer reads discs and would be expensive to fix since it's an original that could play Gamecube games) but need some TLC and I would love to see fully restored. Hence why I enjoy your videos so much. Keep up the great work, I look forward to the next project!
Dude pulled a game boy game out of his sock. That’s how we know he’s one of us
I still have one of these sitting on a shelf with a busted speaker. This video may finally inspire me to clean it up and fix it.
I had this gameboy😭😭😭absolute memories 😢wish I could go back to that simpler time
Odd, you are the best. Thanks for great entertainment and regards to Ducktor.
the sound of the screen coming off at 3:40 was sooooo satisfying 😩🤌😮💨 also the cartridge coming out of the sock had me rolling lmaoo thank you for another awesome video❤
This one looks good and special!
Nice job bringing it back to life!
Bro can open a Nintendo museum at home with all these childhood devices!
A majority of my childhood was spent staring into this beautiful thing. I wish I still had this and my 'Jungle Green 64'.
I owned one of those
The ducktor: Oh! look! he is using a toothbrush to clean the 20 years old grime of this gameboy... wait! what are you doing with that?! don't you dare to put that dirty grimy brush in my mouth! don't you dare! DON'T YOU DARE! Gwarbbblebllurgbublerfg... Agh! Why did you do that?! I don't even have teeth!
Props to you for letting us watch some gameplay 👌
it came out beautifully and I love it. I wish I was old enough to grow up with one of these in my house brand new.

That was lovely. Especially loved the "subscribe" electric screwdriver you used to put in the screws again. that was funny and wouldve gotten me - but im already subscribed. :)
I love the scrubbing part. So satisfying.🦆
I always wanted that Game Boy COLOR but it was quite expensive over here in Mexico as always amazing video!
def curious to see this guys collection of repaired stuff at this point
Love this. I modded my old gameboy color a couple months ago, so worth it
Even though I was born in the 2000s, I still used iconic handheld devices like this and the ds, love the content👍
Bro, you are one of the coolest person I "know". I'm always amazed about what you do
The 'console restoration' section is my favourite of this channel. Thumbs up and hope for NEO GEO CD restoration.
I still have this exact type of game boy color that my mom got me when it first came out, and it still works. Along with a Pokémon blue version that STILL has its original data on it. WITH A MEW.
Good restoration!
he finally posted after 2 months lets go
We are looking at pure nostalgia here
i can’t explain how emotionally attached i am to ducktor. no other restoration channel is the same. every time they clean something i miss ducktor
these videos our downright therapeutic :)
Great job, as always.
My child hood, you fixed it bright and well
Man, I really want that GBC…❤
Your attention detail is to be commended!
that bit at the end, aw. reminded me that pokemon yellow was my first ever pokemon game :')
Wish I knew what happened to my Pokemon GBC :( Lost in a move, no doubt. Always love watching these! Inspires me to try and fix things instead of throwing them away.
