Restoring a Vintage Mackie CR-1604 Mixer (Part 3 of 3)
Музыка
This is the final episode of the Mackie CR-1604 repair and restoration. We service the faders on the main board, clean the front panel, and install the Rotopod and rack ears. Finally test the board and get it all back together.
I hope you enjoyed this series!

Not a tech by any means but couldn't stop watching. I'm going into my 4th generation 1604's and the TLC given to this project was informative and inspiring. Great job, bro. All the best to you!!

Thank you. Very meaningful and appreciated comment.
Nice job! As a fellow "wrencher," I appreciate your caring to do a good job. I have the Mackie 8 Buss so the components are very similar.

Cool, thanks!
love it how you go into details. helps me a lot bc im tearing a 1604 apart - thinking about giving me the pain to desolder those faders ...
Fantastic!
I watched this whole series and have to say it s great to see someone taking the time to fix old things rather than throw and buy new. Sustainabbiloty in action. I recently got a 1604 VLZ Pro and it works great except the aux 4 bus has noise on it, even if all pots are down. Any suggestions what this could be? Must open it up wen I have some time...

I agree I enjoy working with vintage gear nothing beats old gear! Mine has a light on in one of the lines but has no effect on the usage and as much as I want to “fix it” I just leave it alone and use the line normally.

Any time I encounter noise on a circuit, four things I look for are; poor connection, bad grounding, shorting capacitor or an open resistor to ground. Hope this helps.--W8IMP
great vids! was wondering if you have any un-edited videos of assembling/disassembling?

Hi, I just purchased a faulty Mackie CR1604 (old US model, 1995) and it appears that the transformer is not working (makes a strange noise when mains are switched on). Do you have any idea if I could replace it by something equivalent? I don't even know the specs. The PSU PCB looks fine, I recapped it because some caps were a bit bulging so I thought it couldn't hurt. Thanks a lot for your time!
