Restoring a sad 1994 Subaru Sambar kei truck - part 1
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
I saw potential in this sad little Sambar, it reminded me so much of the panda Trueno AE86 from Initial D. The last registration was even from Ibaraki! It was meant to be, so I imported it and set off to resto-mod it.

Thanks for sharing. I have a Hijet restoration project underway. I wouldn't have the patience and the energy to strip all of that black paint. My Hijet has a little bit of superficial surface rust in the bed. I'm going to sand it out, prime it, and then "paint" the entire truck, inside and out, with Monstaliner polyurethane bed liner. Just installed a new battery, converting it from the small Japanese battery to the largest North American battery that would fit (35N) with the larger battery post clamps. Still need to make a battery cover. The Hijet had a blown clutch when I imported it. After six weeks, I just received the clutch parts from Japan so I can get the truck on the road. Warmer weather in the spring means the mini truck work should be picking up soon.
1995 sambar on the way. Ordered the bushings (I’m sure I will need them too). Thanks for the tip and looking forward to your next video

Where did you find the bushings? i cant seem to find on amazon
Watching these videos takes me back to my youth when we had to fabricate parts all the time. Back then we had the J.C. Whitney and McMaster Carr catalogs, no internet!. Man they had a bunch of unusual adapters and conversion parts and kits. Very much enjoy your content!!
Wow, great transformation! Inspiring me to clean up my 93 Sambar, no "custom" paint to remove but my interior is still bearing Japanese dir,t dust and a bit of crud under the seats. Big return on investment of effort.
I really appreciate your sharing the info on bushings. Thanks!

Thanks for sticking around, I'm tryin but this whole day job thing is such a waste of time when I could be wrenching on these lil nuggets
I'm looking for a flood damaged Subaru Sambar ks-4 truck, does anybody have any ideas on where i can get one
No heat gun? Set it out on a hot sunny day on some pavement, it'll soften right up. I wish I could find an old janky KEI truck like this to play with. They are getting stupid prices for them post COVID.
You should make a video on how to clean the engine because all these Kei Truck are dirty as well H. The soft scrub bathroom cleaner is a fantastic tip that I use on my wife white minivan.

I'm no detailer but I'll have to give it a shot
1.can you swap a 1994 kei truck engine to a 2000 or higher? 2. how about the interior are you allowed to swap for a 2020 or newer? 3. does the import law restrict your option of customizing the kei truck?

Probably differs by state, but here in CT once its registered as a classic you can pretty much do whatever. So pass inspection in stock form first then customize.
Also show more of the products you're using because your stuff turns out great. Where's the link to those bushings on Amazon, I couldn't find them. Please Sir. Thank you

They're constantly going out of stock and are currently not on Amazon where I had originally found them. Look for 8mm bore, 10mm od, 8mm long bushings wherever you can find them in stock. I saw them on eBay once or twice. Good luck.
can I get a link to those bushings for the transmission?
