Nice job! I’ve got a Boy Scout knife from the 70’s somewhere. It was given to me when I was a Boy Scout. But, I had a Barlow that I preferred to carry. So…..if I can find it, it is likely still in packaging and virtually brand new. Probably at my parents’ somewhere.

Never heard of using vinegar to clean knives. I only use alcohol if needed after using with food or something. I do use the acid from vegetables and fruits to give all my carbon steel blades designs, which is fun for me. It is no where near as harsh as using vinegar. I only use vinegar on stains, like toilets and showers.

I've got a white camillus cub scout knife that I found. It's not much though and I would have never known what kind of knife it was until I started watching your channel doc. Think of it read it correctly the white handle was made from 76 thru 79.

Another great video, a lot learned here. A) got to change Bucky Bears name to Booger Bear. B) things don’t go as planned is why Doc doesn’t want to work on others sentimental knives. C) wish I knew more about vinegar bath pitfalls a couple of weeks ago before I soaked a rusted up garden tool box Old Hickory slicer for 2 or 3 days. Vinegar will EAT METAL if left too long! Thanks for the class again Doc! I hope you can learn the double pin method so you can put the bells back on that you like.

They grind the tang stamps down so the manufacturer can sell the knife as a factory second. All the knife would normally have would be small blemishes but quality control was a lot tighter back in those days.

I use Clear Gorilla Glue and I read the instructions and it says to be sure the surface is wiped clean and it makes no mention of wetting the surface?
