I was 19. Cordless electric drills had just come out.(1980?) I asked my boss for one, to do aluminum gutter work. "I've got a cordless you can have.", he said. Next a.m., sure enough, he handed me an old "egg beater". He thought himself quite witty. Joke was on him. I used the thing for the next ten years. No charger, no cord. But, if I needed to put one pop rivet, or even several, in a aluminum or copper gutter, it was perfect. Thanks, Boss.

I prefer this sort of restoration. You now have a usable tool that doesn’t look like it was made yesterday or is too perfect to touch without wearing white gloves. You also show just what the process entails in reality - dirty, grubby work! I appreciate that you didn’t use a sand blaster or worst of all powder coating which imho has no place in vintage restoration. Congratulations, I’m a subscriber.

Honestly I like both. One is like making artwork and one is making a tool/rebuilding something from history. I can go either way. If it is a novelty item or something you won't really use anyway then why not make it really pretty to show off a bit.

What is the process you use to make it look dirty rusty & old?

It doesn't look as good as the original, but if you pass the thickest sandpaper you have to leave grooves in the metal and then pass water with salt over the surface, it will cause rust

Hola, quiero agregar un detalle de ese taladro , tiene reductor de fuerza se puede cambiar la palanca de lugar y se puede usar para taladrar pared, yo tengo uno y he taladrado paredes. La restauración fue espectacular , muy buena y detallada.

My grandfather left me an American-made ax. and I'm keeping it as a very valuable keepsake. I once heard him say that white ash is an optimal choice for the handle of an ax. my grandpa is gone...i always keep it and will restore it someday. thanks for the good video, your tutorial

My Grandfather was a carpenter, and he taught me how to be one. When I was little he taught me how to use a hand tools before learning anything about power tools. I will always be thankful for that, because I can appreciate what it was like before electricity was implemented into our daily tools.
