Restoration Pocket DOUBLE BARREL Gun
Hello! Today, the restoration of a french double-barreled pocket pistol. A sample of the mid-19th century. The condition is terrible, everything is rusty, the mechanisms do not work. But I will restore everything. This is an interesting project, but for a review. No functionality is required. The item is intended for a museum. I will remove the rust, fix the mechanisms and make a new handle. Let's go!
Firstly I put all the parts in a rust remover. The previous handle was most likely made of horn, but there was practically nothing left of it. After cleaning the metal parts, I washed everything and dried it. The remaining plaque was removed using a soft metal brush.
Next, I began to restore the barrel mechanism. (Apparently someone tried to brew everything roughly earlier, but it didn't work out). I removed the extra seams, sanded the parts, and removed the irregularities. Next, I prepared the surface of the future soldering sites and soldered everything with tin-lead solder. Everything is working fine.
The next mechanism is triggers. The condition is poor, rust and time have practically ruined a lot. I made two pairs of new springs because the old ones were broken.
The handle of the pocket pistol was made of dry beech wood. I covered it with stain and linseed oil. I applied some decor after assembly.
Furthermore, I did not do the test, because this ITEM IS INTENDED FOR VIEWING IN A MUSEUM.
Sincerely, Alex. Thanks for attention!
Good luck and health to everyone! With best wishes, Alex!

This channel is like a living fossil of KZread's 2007 era where most channels were just straightforward videos of people doing stuff they loved doing. Nothing malicious, no malicious phone app plugs, no excessive hype, no diamond glitches. Just beautiful. PS - I was born near Rockford Illinois!
WOW. I LOVE KNIVES AN GUNS . GREAT JOB BIG GUY GREAT JOB

I recently found your channel, and you've now moved to restoring old guns, one of my favorite things to watch. I'm glad to have found your channel, and I think you did a good job with this gun!
Very nice piece! The folding triggers and engraving indicate a gentleman’s dueling pistol possibly, kept in a pocket until needed. Beautiful piece of history
13:46.. We know very well that you are very tired of renewing these beautiful weapons.. but in the end you create a new achievement for yourself.. be proud of yourself. You are not just renewing the weapons.. you are renewing our love for you after every clip❤
Well worth just under 15 min of my attention. That was a great effort and loved that you had to suss stuff out. Maybe consider, and spend another five years on it, trying to carve out recesses for the original handle. If you don't have anything else on, that is.
Alex, you've leveled up to firearms. That looks like a tedious restorations but it looks fabulous as always. Great work.
For a first time restoration of a firearm, you did really well! Thank you for sharing this journey. I am happy your injury heals well. Looking forward to the next video.
I have been restoring and repairing firearms for over 50 years, I don't believe I would have had the Moxie to tackle this one! GREAT JOB ALEX AS USUAL!

Hello, yes! You are absolutely right. When it is difficult and difficult and does not work out, there is an increase in experience and knowledge. Thanks
You are such a good craftsman and with such interesting projects. :)
Man. What a piece of work ... clever job. Alex, thanks for all effort to make those videos. It's always a relief in my day to watch your work. Beep beep.
Beautiful restoration, well done friend! As for the # 5 on the parts, they labeled them so parts could be replaced quickly and easily in the field. Things break, but they can be repaired and put back into action.

Hola buenas tarde bonito trabajo saludos
Now you have graduated to gunsmithing. Granted that you didn’t try to restore it to full functionality (making or finding ammunition for it would be tricky and I would not want to fire it anyway) I still celebrate you deciding to restore its appearance and what functionality you could manage. Thank you nice again for sharing your struggle to learn and improve your skills, and showing us the tangible results of that struggle. Beep beep!
Very nice work.

Nice work i'm french and happy to see you working on this 😊
You did a superb job restoring this gun!
Wow, nice to see firearm restoration for the first time! Keep it up!
That was an interesting case, all things considered very nice.
Very nice job congrats
This was a fascinating change of pace. Enjoyed this a lot and a good end result.
Good job mister Screws beautiful restoration well done

When I was a little boy a long time ago I was given a Pirate's double barreled pistol which i thought was wonderful. It was blue enamel with a gold pistol grip. It fired caps and i played Pirates with my brother. But yours is the real thing. How amazing to restore this piece. Beautiful. Congratulations!

Hello! Thanks for feedback ^_^
Very nice work Alex. I really enjoy watching you take on new projects. Keep up your good work, it is inspiring to me 👍
The restoration is beautiful and perfect 😃😃
I knew you could do it, Alex! Great job!
Well done! Especially considering how strange a weapon it was! I have seen a gun with folding triggers!
Excellent as always!
Really good job, and you had no experience in pin fire guns. Bravo my friend.
Great work nice job
Very nice jobs it looks lovely thanks for sharing with us👍
Beautiful job Alex, it will be a great addition to the museum!
That certainly was a well earned "Beep beep", absolutely amazing restoration of that pistol, when you first showed it it looked like a .410 bore shot shell and when you finished I was convinced it was the same. Anyway thanks for sharing with us and best wishes from here in the UK.
Well done with this restoration! Impressive as usual.
You did well Alex you have came along way my friend
Very good work, especially new flat springs. Fortunately you picked a period piece before there was any real stadardization/mass production, that means all parts were unique and one of a kind. That means restoration can be made without worry about exact copying. Again good work.

I dont think thats a pinfire it looks like an old black powder centerfire but its still pretty cool
Wow! and what have you not done yet! The result was wonderful. thanks❤
Very cool! Even if it never fires again, it's still a very sharp restoration.

Eccezionale! Luca, Italy.
Lovely! I am glad you just loved it for what it was. That is quite the unique weapon. It looks designed for female tastes and sensibilities!

5 is likely an inventory mark not necessarily a serial number but could be there to match some hand fittings or something more administrative on the factory end to keep things in order.
Amazing result👍. It looks like it was a real weapon maybe carried by a wealthy merchant; a mini shotgun but the firing pins, springs and sears are too far gone. At one point I thought you were going to use the remains of the old grip to make bone inlays on the new grip.
good project my friend

Great job Alex!! This was a fun video...I could tell you were working very hard with this one 👍👍👍
Another impressive job. BeeBeep indeed!
communication check response, yes I read the subtitles lol, and you could have used the saw blade for the spring, just a case of annealing it first and then doing your wok and heat treating it again to harden it before a tempering session, worth looking at some video's about how to heat treat steels
Hello Alex, great restoration! I might be mistaken but is this your first firearm restoration? Thank you for another wonderful video! All the very best to You and Yours from Brian in Southern California
