Restoration Conversations: Women of the Skies: From Museums to Scientists

Broadcast from Florence’s National Central Library
'Women of the Skies: From Muses to Scientists', on location at the exhibition
This 'stellar journey' features history's women - both allegorical and real - who dared to seek the stars. "We begin in the 1500s and follow a path that is long and discontinuous, which is marked by success and by failure," says the exhibition's co-curator Natacha Fabbri. "We are exploring the progressive introduction of women into the field of Astronomy, and their struggle for equality."
National Central Library conservator Alessandro Sidoti adds to the dialogue by discussing
the challenges of exhibiting rare books and manuscripts from one of Florence's most evocative
academic venues.
