When the pipe fell. I thought I was going to learn some new curse words, but you held it in. Would have loved to see you do some etching or engraving on the scabbard pieces. Still, that was a beautiful restoration as always.

@@ScrewsAndTools сабли обычно тяжёлые от 800 до 1200 грамм! Потому, что их использовали когда ещё носили какие не то доспехи! Но, потом стали массово использовать огнестрельное оружие и кольчуги кирассы стали уже не эффективные (хотя кирасиры ещё оставались до середины 19 века). И тут пришла на смену сабли как раз шашка! Это изначально кавказский вид холодного оружия! Живу в 40 км от Майкопа, столицы Адыгеи, как раз с адыгского шашсхэ и переводится , как длинный нож!

The shashka I have has Persian numbers on the blade, guard, and pommel. They all match. I think the handle pieces are all real, as they are made of copper, but I'm not to sure of the blade. The metal is old and pitted, but the blades tip is somewhat rounded. Also, the fuller is very shallow. Anyway, as always your work is gorgeous 😁. I love your curved sword videos. Keep saving these old soldiers from rust 🙏

Hi! Thanks for the feedback. This is not an engraving, but the remains of a blade stamps.

So glad you didn't sand off that beautiful aged texture! But make sure to wire wheel in all 4 directions, then you'll be able to get rid of those pesky black pits. And don't forget to buff that blade! Then you'll have a glittering blade. You can always file/sand and edge too if you'd like.

A great restoration as usual. If I might offer a suggestion, to prevent a plastic pipe full of liquid from falling over and spilling, why not place a leather strap around it with the ends of the strap held in the jaws of the vice? I hope this mayt help save expensive essentials in the future. Looking forward to your next restoration.

How long did this project take in all? Also - I was wondering whether the rings on the fittings should not be on the inner curve of the scabbard, as it would be closer to the belt / suspension? Great work, as always.
