@@yourpal_austin I appreciate the permissions! I'll scrub this and link one of your pages (lmk if you have a preference). Not used to reposting content because I like creators to get credit. I've been trying to have conversations like this with this hometown group in particular since COVID took off, 'cause y'know, unnecessary death and all that. But considering I'm effectively 1 of 3ish liberals that post in the group and some conversations have become outwardly frustrating I'm trying to minimize the number of platform changes so they might actually click "play" on something I post, hence why I asked about uploading the video to your old fb page. I get it if you don't want to deal with it though.

This has always been my baseline stance on things - what allows the most people the most freedom without hurting others? You'd think the political groups that are most concerned with freedom would recognize that banning things like gay marriage only impedes people's freedom, while the alternative doesn't. Legalizing gay marriage doesn't require you to get gay-married (if you will). At least with abortion, someone can delude themselves into thinking that it's murder, but even then, you're still talking about strangers and their bodies/lives. If you want abortion to happen less often because you think it's wrong, support comprehensive sex ed and universal reproductive health care. oh wait that's what liberals want so no

Many devout religious people are afraid that if they don't reject and rebel against the general acceptance of the things they view as sinful, then they will face judgement for that in the afterlife. Even worse, they sometimes blame natural disasters on god's judgement for the state of society. You can't tell such a person that gay marriage and abortion being legal won't affect their lives.

True, but there are three caveats here, one the just as devout people within their group who AREN'T worried about being judged for not railing against things their religion says are sinful, the lack of evidence that any religious person had to stand before Judgement for not rejecting "sin" in highly vocals ways, and also, the fact that evangelizing isn't all that important in the Bible. Early Christians had a more socialist commune type of life. The way Christianity is practiced today is way more modern.
