    Hey James, I've been a natural Bodybuilder for almost 35 years now. I've always loved training legs heavy and used to squat 405 for 11 deep reps. Since the gym closing because of covid-19 I have switched to bands and have done two leg workouts with them. It took a week for the soreness to go away after the first workout and I really pushed the second one a few days ago. I am so BEYOND the usual soreness this time, it's not even funny! I've used a number of your exercises and come up with a few of my own and I'm blown away at how intense I've been able to train legs wiith bands. Thanks for you awesome information on the topic! To anyone out there who is not sure about bands, I'm telling you these things are the real deal!

    @@sammamdrozos I don't know the exact resistance but I use a grey band that is 6 inches wide (I call it the spine crusher) for my first set of 20 reps and add a blue band about 3.5 I inches wide for my heavy sets of about 10 - 14 reps.

    You've been an advocate of bands for a long time. I got a set of bands about two years ago and I found your vids the best on the subject. I've been mixing band training along side weight training in those years and for me it's the best form of training. Now with this virus I can only use bands and your vids have been inspiring me. Keep it up bro and I hope these times get your more subscribers and viewers. Peace.

    James has put out so many informative videos on bands. I signed up to his online program TA2 build. There you get a proper program, videos are short and to the point and massively useful. I paid £42 for a year's subscription. He has 3 other programs available as well. After 4 months with the bands and the massive convenience of working out at home I've dropped my gym membership! I've been a gym member since 1985. I would say it's my parallel number one physical interest. Number 2 being Tai Chi.

    The pointers are great but like a lot of people we do “push/pull/leg” work outs and are just looking for a 15-30 minute or so workouts to follow. If you go to bodycoach he does exactly what I’m looking for. He gets on...explains real quick and gets to business with a time..(or not) but the point is its just straight to the point. If you’d come up with a few sets of workouts for each push/pull leg day it would be something I’d use everyday. You might actually already have that and I’m sorry to ramble on if you do. Your content is great!

    Thank you for the clarification, I did get waist pain when I did deadlifts and squats, so the overhead mods should help me do it right? BTW don't you think that ankle anchors help you mimic gym exercises easier? Even if you have to use tube bands for this,not like we will utilise the extra loop range of motion in our legs. Just curious.

I think that it should be noted that if someone has difficulty with keeping their arms over head or arms moving forward when squatting with the band overhead is that they probably have tight pecs and tight lights. They may also have weak mid and lower traps. Definitely suggest correcting this before attempting an overhead band squat💪🏽

    Limb extension is chiefly a product of arm length ratio. Like holding a fishing pole at the end extend. Even though its light, its still going to bend downward because of the distance from the fulcrum, e.g. your shoulder. Long arms are just harder to raise and hold.

    It is really a different mindset. There is no absolute number for resistance and reps. But there is still exhaustion, and it will come eventually. I do non-banded exercises to track my progress. For example, you could do push-ups and pull-ups (with a band, if necessary) once a week, twice a month or once a month. Over time, the reps should increase. You could also go to the gym once a month and test your progress there over time. Perceived exertion becomes even more important when using bands.

    James, I like your explanations. I'm a 70 year old Australian doing irregular yoga in India, wanting to strengthen muscle as they are collapsing or something. Believe it's called sarcopenia. Losing weight on low carb diet. Whether this is a factor in muscle flab not sure. Taking calcium, magnesium & mineral supplements. Eating well. I want to get one band to begin with as I'm a traveller and not sure if this will work yet for me. There are cheap ones available on India's Flipkart as cheap as $2 or ₹200. Would I be better to pay more I'm not sure. But I need a routine or manual to give me some direction. Want to work with arms and legs but core.. of course. Do you offer a pdf or series of things by chance? If not could you recommend something. Or should I just go with the flow and try different things ? Thanks a lot, Phil

    @@rgfitness6425 My gym membership is on hold right now (many have already gone belly-up because of this.), but they do still offer enough benefits to make them worth it. For example, they have free weights, and leg machines that bands can't accurately replicate. They also have stationary bikes and treadmills so you can do your aerobic training regardless of the weather. Last but not least, there is as massage chair that is the next best thing to your own personal masseur. Although bands have resistance their greatest limitation is that you have no accurate way to determine that resistance. With machines and free weights, you always know exactly what weight you're lifting.

    Here’s the thing. kzread.infoUgkxS7ex6L4sMqpaTn4LnBPyBmRQsSingL8y These are not meant to be stretched to 12ft or 14ft or whatever else where you’re a 6ft person, stepping in the band and trying to do standing shoulder presses. If they tear, (assuming they’re not defective) then you’re trying to stretch them way too far. For a full body stretch, bands should be like three feet long, doubled over. Don’t buy the bad press. A fully extended reverse fly is avoid as far as you should stretch these. If it’s too easy, use more than one band at a time.Not rocket science.

  • @bigdarshan

    Progressive resistance is difficult on bands....when you add two bands like he recommends sometimes you can't even do 1 rep. I guess you need to build to high reps like 20+ before you double up the bands. Then you have this wad of bands in your hands which is annoying bit no excuses. You need to get creative and get at it

  • @Realistic316
    @Realistic3162 жыл бұрын

    you cannot build much muscle in your quads like this….cuz with bands, you only have high resistance towards the end of the squat….. whereas with weights, there’s full resistance from the beginning of the sqaut to the end of it.
