You can wash the brush in isopropyl and use it again. I do it all the time. Also works for syringes.

Can you use uv resin?

Awesome. I would never have thought to try using wire wool on resin. Another technique I've used with metallic powder is to use a soft dry brush to apply a small amount of the powder to the inside of the mould. Then I pour the resin mixed with a little more of the powder. It gives a really good metallic finish. Have you ever tried this?

@@SteveMcDonaldArtsandCrafts Keep in mind that this will give a nice appearance but since it's only a thin top coat it can be easily damaged and then the resin shows through. It would be a good technique to combine with normal cold casting for a nice outer finish but still with the ability for scratches and gouges to be buffed up to a metallic shine if there's damage

I tried cold casting with Copper Powder and Alumalite Urethane Resin a couple days ago. 12 min work time, 4 hr cure. I left it on the pressure pot overnight when it was supposed to be done at 9:30pm. I had also left a few pieces of extras on the counter. None were cured, all still malleable. I used 1/3 of resin, hardner, and powder. Resin was by weight as directed. Was it too much powder?

Can we make it without using resins?? Only using metal powder???

Expertly done as always. Just a head's up though. You don't have to use nearly as much powder as that. Just coat your mould with the dry powder (it will stick really well to a silicone mould) and back fill with black coloured resin. When cured, buff with 00 wire wool as you've already said. For extra and more realistic weight, (if desired) add steel shot or ball bearings. Here are some bird skulls I did using this technique: www.etsy.com/uk/listing/762393004

Better off dusting the mould with the bronze powder then you dint have to mix bronze into the resin. If you want to add weight inexpensively you can use iron oxide powder which is also nice and black!

Why didn’t you just dust the mold and shake off the excess. Then pour your resin. You wasted a lot of metal powder doing your way. Remember, you want the metal powder on the outside and not in the middle of the part.
